<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TORONTO - Forty-five minutes before Wednesday night's game against the Toronto Raptors, Flip Murray sat on a folding chair in the locker room intently studying game tape of the opponent.

Cavaliers personnel say the scene has been a common one since Murray arrived in Cleveland via a Feb. 23 trade with the Seattle SuperSonics.
So perhaps it wasn't the best time to ask Murray about his long-term future.
    Try back, say, maybe, June.

``That stuff will take care of itself in the summer,'' the 26-year-old unrestricted free agent said. ``Right now, I'm just focused on helping the Cavaliers.''

Whether he admits it or not, Murray finds himself in a good position. The fourth-year veteran, who has played much of his career behind Ray Allen, is getting starter's minutes with the Cavaliers and capitalizing on them.
Coach Mike Brown went as far as to agree with a reporter's assessment that the Cavaliers might have gotten a steal in acquiring Murray for backup guard Mike Wilks.

In seven games, Murray is averaging 13.3 points, three assists and 38 minutes in place of an injured Larry Hughes.

``We basically gave up our third point guard for a guy who is starting and playing big minutes for us,'' Brown said. ``We feel really good about that and I'll pat (General Manager) Danny Ferry on the back again.''
Brown knew of Murray's offensive game.

It's his conscientious work on the defensive end that has been an added bonus. Though not a shutdown guard, Murray has used his quickness and long arms to his advantage.

``I didn't think he was as capable of a defender as he is,'' Brown said. ``... When you say Flip Murray, you don't think defender, but he has done a nice job in the short time he has been with us.''</div>

Murray is nuts, his good play will get him a big contract.

I really wanted our team to go after him. I don't know why he never got a lot of playing time in Seattle.

He didn't get a lot of playing time in Seattle b/c Ray Allen didn't like playing alongside of him.

Flip hasn't come close to reaching his potential. He has been asking for minutes as soon as he has gotten into the league and Mike Brown is giving them to him and he isn't taking advantage of them. 13.3 points a game is not that impressive for a guy who was a consistent 20 point a game scorer in the absence of Ray Allen.

I just hope to see a more aggressive/attacking Murray down the stretch of the season b/c that contract that he is planning on getting will not come by him just standing in the corner and waiting for LeBron to throw him the rock.
