<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Don't expect the Sixers to sign George Lynch anytime soon. While team president Billy King didn't deny a published report that the Sixers inquired about Lynch's availability roughly four weeks ago, he said that was as far as it went. "We have no interest in George," said King, who called the report "off-base." The 35-year-old Lynch, a free agent, hasn't played in the league since he spent last season with the Hornets. Oklahoma City/New Orleans waived him on Oct. 29, even though it meant paying him the $3.2 million he's owed this season. Lynch, a 12-year pro, was the starting small forward for the Sixers from 1998-2001. He helped them reach the NBA Finals in 2000-01, and averaged a career high 9.6 points in 1999-2000. Although King said there was no progress to report on the Willie Green front, signing Green is far more likely than Lynch returning. </div> link: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/100...006-623735.html
Let's just give all this money to Willie Green instead I love Green, but this team needs change extremely and Lynch would have probably been better off the bench rather than nothing. Our team's bench was better last year with Marc Jackson, Rodney Rogers, etc.
This team is stuck in mediocrity, so there is no point in spending money to sign free agents for the remainder of the season. It's not like we are on the brink of contention, and signing free agents will hopefully put us over the top. At this point I'd much rather just let the young guys struggle, and learn from their mistakes rather than bring a veteran in to take some of their minutes. The only thing I would like from a veteran swingman is to show Andre the ropes a little bit. Other than that, there isn't much sense to bring one in at this point.
The best FA we signed during the season has to be Matt Barnes. He is so underrated and can score and play defense better than guys who play more than him. Cheeks needs to re-look his roster. It's getting agrivating watching Barnes not get any time (last night he did, even fouled out) while John Salmons stays in the game and does jack on both ends of the court.
I agree. I think Barnes needs to be given Salmons' spot in the rotation until Salmons shows us he can contribute consistently. He is the most inconsistent player on the roster, and doesn't pass the ball 80% of the time he touches it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">I can't believe they even considered Lynch. Why not go after Spree?</div> I thought he signed with the Clippers? But I agree with everyone here. John Salmons needs to be more consistant and stop ballhogging so much. Give Barnes his spot.

I don’t really think this move, or better yet none move will have any affect on our season. Lynch is by no means an impact player. The only positive I would see if we had signed him would be the sentimental part, bringing back a veteran who helped us reach the finals a few years ago, and letting him retire a 76er. Other than that it really has no affect on our season once so ever. This team is not going any where. We are nothing more than a .500 team. Every once and a while we will go on a four game win streak, but we will follow that up with a four game losing streak so we don’t gain anything from it. I hope they can reach an agreement with Green soon so we can see what he will be able to give us heading into the off season. We should have some idea of what role he will play and whether or not we will sign him long term this off season depending on how he plays these last 20 something games, and our first round playoff series. Hopefully, we can get someone good in the draft, and continue to build for the future.
