This is it its time to show us what yao ming is really made of what he really is and what he can become and how big of an impact is he reli. If in time mcgrady is out yao goes off for 40s 50s points or just plain keep leadin us to victory we definetly no we got somethin speical here and even more special because garnett can't even do that. I believe yao is a special talent and has the ability to command double teams and triple teams enough that we can still win with out mcgrady i am still going with my prediction of 6-0 in the tough stretch. Time for us to see our franchise player work alone. Time to see what luther bogans wesley alston swift howard is made of. Time to see if they can step up and help fill the void. If we are sucessful we could run for the championship this year. If we fail its back to the drawing board. What y'all think can yao do it?

Maybe he can play at a superhuman level and lead us to the playoffs, but don't count on it.

Yao's progress throughout his career has been gradual, and it will continue to be so because he's dedicated and works hard. But just as it was wrong to expect Yao to be Shaq when he was a rookie, we can't expect him to all of a sudden turn into the best player in the league. He'll keep getting better, if his past is any indication, but if we don't make the playoffs it shouldn't be seen as a failure on Yao's part. There simply isn't enough around him for us to realistically expect a big run to close out the season.

yes but yao is basically having the same impact as shaq in his prime now so i am counting on yao and the rest of squad to step up even more.

Wait, wait. In his prime, Shaq averaged just below thirty points and averaged close to fourteen rebounds. Now, before you get all excited about Yao, I'd give him a couple more games to even put him on the level of Shaq. By no means do I like Shaq, in fact I can't stand him, but I think you're overrated Yao bit much here. Shaq was a huge defensive presence back in the day, and Yao simply doesn't do as much defensively as Shaq. Although he does alter shots with his height and length, Shaq was just a huge intimidator and was a great shot blocker (above 3 a game).

Sorry, I'm a pessimist. Let me get this straight. You expect me to believe that Yao can bring this team to the playoffs and eventually beat the Spurs or Dallas on his own with just the role players. Most glaringly, without our best player? What team do you think this is, the 93-94 Rockets? There's so many holes on this team its crazy. Dallas and San Antonio have more depth in them. Think about it for a second. You really think Yao and role players are better than Duncan, Ginobli, Parker, and Finley, or Nowitzki, Terry, Howard, and Stackhouse?

    Ummm, not happening.

There's no way we can beat the Spurs/Mavs in the first round IMO, and even if we do, we get the other of the two in the second round. Say we beat them again, we get Phoenix, a team that's spanked us all season. If we get past Phoenix and into the Finals, Detroit or Miami. This isn't our year, we're simply not deep enough to make a run in the playoffs.

Tracy is pretty much out for the season. He'll miss at least another 5 weeks or so. The playoff push is over. But I guess the best thing that will come out of this is for Yao Ming to learn what it takes to take over as the leader of the Rockets. Unlike the beginning of the season, I really think Yao has come to see himself as the person everyone looks up to (literally and figuratively).

Yao can't take over by himself. His teammates need to be sharp in getting him the ball at the right time and covering his weaknesses defensively.

Yao can only do so much. The team has to gel..and make their open 3s..if they don't gel, they don't defend well or score. If they don't make their open 3s...yao can only do so much. I'm counting on bogans and howard..bogans has been the difference for the role players

    Oh cry me a river

This pessimistic attitude makes me wonder how much faith yall have in the Rockets.

I've noticed something about the Rockets in the last few games and that's they've finally realised no matter how down and defeated you are you can still win and now they're waking up.

Some of you look at the Rockets record of the whole season such 2-19 with Mcgrady 7-20 without Yao and Mcgrady or whatever but i look at what this team has done in the last few games they play and tell you this team has progressed i mean just look at what happened in Indiana when they were down 16 points they didn't quit and kept believing that they can pull it off and look what happened in the end and even if i'm wrong then at least i can say i have more faith in this team most of you ever had.

the only way i can see we go 6-0 is yao continue to produce big numbers. juwan hitting his mid range jumper consistently. rafaer, david, luther, bogans all hitting three well enough. STROMILE plays defensive and doesn't take silly shots. (not that he has done that lately).

it will be hard for Yao to continue his strong play if the guards don't step up... if teams continue to take Yao out of the game by double and triple teaming him before he gets the ball, the guards need to take the pressure off him by hitting some shots.
