Just post the worstest call by an NBA Official that you have witnessed. As a Rockets fan I am going to have to say the crappiest call that I have ever seen was the Playoff Game 5 Rockets @ Dallas game where they called a foul in the final seconds of a game on Scott Padgett. It wasn't because Scott Padgett didn't even touch the guy, or because we told the officials right before the play that we weren't going to foul...but because they missed a call right before where Michael Finley had both feet out of bounds and knocked the ball out of T-Macs hands. The official was right their but didn't seem to even notice that Finley was 5 feet behind the backboard! So mines is more of a call noncall I guess.
The list is endless. My main problem with the officials is the inconsistency throughout a game. When you're a player you have to adjust to the way the game is being called. Some refs allow the game to be more physical, while others call ticky tack fouls. However, what's frustrating to watch is when the refs allow players to be physical one half, and then call the game tight in the second half. It ruins the flow of the game and confuses the players and fans watching.
The one that comes to mind right away is Steve Javy's technical on Mo-Pete after he just playfully slapped Vince Carter back. Even after he realized what had happened, he stuck to his mistake and the Raps really missed Peterson's defense down the stretch. I really hate when an official waits to see whether the shot goes down or not, when calling a foul.

Alot of no-calls in the Lakers favor are some of the worst ive ever seen. I remember there was one in the 04-05 season in the first Lakers/Kings game of that year...Bobby Jackson knocked the ball lose from someone and had an open path to the basket and Kareem Rush BLATANTLY pulled on bobby's jersey so he couldnt get to the ball. I mean the dude just pulled on his jersey, you could see it stretching behind Jackson while he was running one way and Rush was pulling another way. THE WORST CALL IVE EVER SEEN....was in the playoff series between the Lakers and Twolves when Troy Hudson was going off. The actual call happened when Janero Pargo was pushing the ball down the court and took it to the basket while Szczerbiak was staying in front of him. Pargo took it up to the basket and Szczerbiak challenged the shot while jumping backwards and not making ANY contact with Pargo. Pargo missed the Layup and the refs (obvious lakers fans) blew the whistle. They showed the replay of it and it actually showed that no parts of the two players bodies touched, but of course, LA had to get bailed out. I remember the next day on espnnews they reported an unusual amount of phonecalls that were complaints about the officiating of that game. How often do you hear espn mention something like that? You know it had to be bad....

I haven't seen the Pargo-Szcerbiak one, but it sounds pretty bad.
I wonder why they don't have replay supporting for fouls, plus if you argue or challenge a call, even if you do it reasonably, they might call a technical on you. Refs really suck, they only have instant replays for buzzer beaters, but not fouls. You should at least be able to argue fouls, like in the NFL without risk of getting a technical foul?
Last year's playoffs. Round 1, Game 4; Denver vs. the Spurs in Denver. Duncan got fouled out before OT because he was next to Caramello (sp on purpose) Anthony when he slipped and fell on his a$$. They actually gave priority to Caramello over Duncan! It was as if Anthony had won 2 back-to-back MVPs and 2 rings and Duncan was the snot-nosed sophomore trying to prove he was worth a (pick your poison). And at least 2 of his other fouls were pretty questionable that game, along with half the fouls on the other Spurs players. George Karl's whining about Ginobili after game 3 prolly had a lot to do with that horrible horrible game.
How about when a ref cost Denver a game against I believe the Lakers. He called a 24 second violation and Lakers won the game. Then the ref got suspended. I believe that's how it went. Correct me if Im wrong. Another one is when Amare blocked Brad Miller's shot which was clearly a goaltending but there was no call. That cost Sactown the game.
The Infamous Larry Johnson 4pt play for the Knicks in the playoffs. Can't remember the year, I think it was against the Heat. I'm sure some Knick or Heat fans will correct me if I'm wrong. But that was HORRIBLE!

Anyways the ref knew he screwed up and thus they had to do a jump ball and the Lakers won the jump, and something something Lakers won. That's the first call that came to mind.

Carmelo got the rebound, but the refs called a 24 second violation because they thought it didn't hit the rim. The Lakers got the ball, and Kareem Rush hit the game winning shot with seconds left. I think it went something like that.
theres tons of terrible call that are soooo lopsided...one call that came to my mind was a rocket against utah game.. the dallas game came in my mind... it kind of costed the game... everytime the refs are talking to each other about a call.. one of the veterans would always pick dallas... and the young refs would just agree... which in my mind if so lopsided...
One time Kobe put up a three and fully extended his arm out and curled it down so that it barely touched the other players hand. The other player was just standing there with his hands up to contest the shot. The guy wasn't even close or anything. Just had his hands up. It was at the beginning of this season, against Utah (if I remember correctly), and the final shot of the game. Kobe hit the three free throws to send it to OT and won it. I felt bad for Utah, but I like Kobe.
Funny, none of you ref a NBA game before. The rhythm of the game and the plays, no one has a perfect game. I could get mad the refs at times, but I understand their job and the situation they're in. You guys should acknowledge that.
Obviously, but sometimes the refs are too stubborn to admit their mistakes. And other times they follow a double standard. Those ones are the most annoying to watch. I can handle a simple missed call. We can still criticize stupid calls. None of us have ever played an NBA game before, but we still comment on the players.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You guys should acknowledge that</div> I'll acknowledge that if McDonalds' drive through screws up my order, I'm gonna get pissed. It's your job. Do it right. If I don't do my job, I get ripped from my boss. So, there for, do your job right, and there won't be a problem.
Refs should look at replays more often. To much bad calls on the Rockets for me to remember although i can recall when Michael Finley knocked the ball out of Tmac's hands while standing out of bounds
The worst thing of it is the inconsistancy. Players, coaches and fans really have no idea what to expect in any given game. Ticky-tack fouls or real basketball being played? Phantom calls? Makeup calls? Star treatment? Blah.
