Tough break for Songaila. He has had such a rough stretch with the Bulls this season his minutes have been inconsistent, as has his performance. He was putting together a nice stretch of games these last couple contests, and now this happens. I wish him the best, and hopefully he will get a new contract with the Bulls this off season.

I hope the Bulls still sign him next season. Sucks for him to be out... Maybe Sweetney will atually get some playing time...

The Bulls are going to really miss this guy. He seemed to do everything well.
I hope it was a simple fracture and that the bone is one that heals well. Hopefully this is not a surgery situation and the team docs will know when he can practice again so he doesn't develop anything chronic that bothers him longterm. DS is a tough guy from a small town and poor family whose Dad was paralyzed. Let's all pull for DS to heal quickly and well and to remain a Bull.

Yeah, it is a real shame, he was having a real good season off the bench and will be missed.
Hopefully he will fully recover, but it looks like his season is over.

This might be a blessing in disguise for Michael Sweetney. Not to make light of Songaila, he is a very solid backup, but from the start of the season I have thought Sweetney had more offensive talent then Songaila, overweight or not. With this recent injury to Songaila Skiles will no have any choice, but to see what he can get from Sweetney. This is going to be his workout for next year. He needs to impress Skiles tremendously in these last 20 or so games, then use the off season to get into shape.

Sweetney, 6-8 and 270 pounds, had been benched by Skiles the five games prior to Saturday night's contest against the Atlanta Hawks, a game the Bulls won 95-90.

''Mike will get another chance now,'' Skiles said. ''He just needs to play better; the minutes he's got he hasn't taken advantage of. It would be nice for him -- and it would be nice for us -- if he could perform at a high level.''</div>

I think DS just had a more complete game. He may not have had the natural post moves of MS, but he was an excellent passer and didn't hurt the team very often with bad fouls and turnovers. The coach also liked his defense. DS had played alot of international ball and played well in Sacremento. As coach Skile's said, " Darius shows a new aspect of his game every time he's out there." Hopefully both he and Sweetney will have long and prosperous careers.
