<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MEMPHIS - Allen Iverson stood in the hallway of the FedEx Forum and described his new attire. The big boot on his right foot was courtesy of a sprained ankle that he had suffered with 1.5 seconds left in the first half of yesterday's 94-91 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Iverson didn't return to the game, and even though X-rays were negative, more will be determined with an MRI today.

"This is my RoboCop boot," Iverson said, trying his best attempt at some gallows humor.

Of course there is nothing funny about the injury, which occurred after Iverson missed a corner jumper, and stumbled along the baseline. His ankle turned on the foot of a ball boy.

"I took the shot, and I was walking backwards to see if it was going in, and he [the ball boy] had his foot out there, and I stepped on it and rolled over," Iverson said.

Iverson realized that his afternoon was over after he was carried off the court by teammates Louis Williams and Kyle Korver.

"I had problems walking, so I knew I couldn't do any running," Iverson said. "I couldn't do it. It's real swollen."

The only consolation for Iverson was that the Sixers emerged victorious, snapping a three-game losing streak.

"That was a fun game to watch," Iverson said. "Everybody just came together and played together and Chris [Webber] did a great job of putting everybody on his back."

Webber finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists.
Before Iverson went down, Memphis was having a difficult time containing him. He scored 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field and made all six foul shots, while also dishing out six assists.

Iverson was much more impressed with his team's effort than his own individual performance.

"It was real important," Iverson said. "We just needed a win regardless."
Iverson wasn't the only Sixer to suffer an injury. Andre Iguodala hurt his right hand in the third quarter when he hit a cameraman on the sideline.

Iguodala didn't come out of the game. In fact, he played all 12 minutes of the third quarter and 7 minutes, 19 seconds of the fourth.

"Eddie Jones bumped me out of bounds and the camera man was in the way, and that is what basically broke my fall," Iguodala said.</div>

AI is going to be out for at least the next game, and likely the three-game road trip after that. He has a sprained/bruised right foot.

You know it's got to be serious if he misses an extended period of time. The guy is a pure warrior.

An MRI used to sound imposing, and docs hesitate to order them for us mere mortals, but its the only way to assure the best assessment of soft tissue joint damage, swelling, tears, ruptures and spurring which may be involved in an ankle joint which has more bones and tendons than you can imagine. An ankle sprain for an NBA player means an MRI and predicts the healing period. AI should be able to compete in April-May.

Actually he might be playing Wednesday night against the Hawks, and it does look liked he practiced today to because he is not on todays injury report.
