There is nobody, and i mean nobody in the league right now who can say they've had this many game winning shots so early in their career. In fact, there is nobody who has had more this year at all. This man just does not miss when the game is on the line. And that is a very important attribute.
Yep i agree... I've seen him hit all these game winners this year... and this is his 3rd year in the league..
It really is impressive that he is so good at crunch time because this is really something that a lot of other super stars miss from their games. And this is what team's value more than anything. Being able to win the game for your team.

Umm, he has had maybe 2 or 3 which were driving layup type shots. A lot of them have been isolations and just pumping and then finally taking the shot type thing. He usually has the ball for at least like 10 secs before shooting for most of his GWS this year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How many of these game winning shots did he create off the dribble, and how many were catch and shoot? In this game, he just held the ball for a while, jabbed, and then pulled up, didn't dribble at all. The guy definately has great ability to hit big shots, it's quite impressive really.
Is he seeing as much defensive pressure as, say, Dwayne Wade or LeBron James would in a similar circumstance? Or is it for the most part one-on-one?

Including a NICE block on I think Ben Gordon (potential GWS). I remember one GWS where Melo was trapped in the corner of the three poit/out of bounds area, and the defender was ALLL OVER HIM and Melo just rose above him and it looked like he just threw it up quickly (in nice form) and nothing but net. This kids got some skills. If it weren't for his GWS I think Denver would have 7 less wins. Unbelievable.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dtpxcore:</div><div class="quote_post">Does anyone have a running total of how many game winning shots? I know MJ had 29 and Kobe has 22.</div> Jordan had 25. Not only has Carmelo hit 5 game winners this season, but he's made a couple of clutch shots to tie the game too. If I want somebody to take the last shot for my team, I'll take Carmelo over the likes of Kobe and Wade.
He is now shooting 9-14 on potential GW shots or tieing the game. The boy is a winner. Out of him LeBron and Wade I would not be surprised if he ended his career with more rings than them individually.
Yeah he's hit a lot. But theres another dude from his draft class that has hit a couple game winners this year, David West. One of the candidates for most improved players.
i'm surpirsed anyone hasn't mentioned paul pierce.. He's been tremendous in crunch time, arguably more so than wade
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">How many of these game winning shots did he create off the dribble, and how many were catch and shoot? Another is when he was driving to the hoop against Wesley, then stepped back and nailed the jumper. He's scored in a variety of ways in the clutch this year. 3 pointers, layups, baseline jumpers. He is fearless when the ball is in his hand and his team needs a bucket. No one, and I mean no one has been more clutch this season.
Agreed. He's been playing extremely well this season, and he's as clutch as they come. Don't forget David West though. Isn't he like 4/4 on potential game-winning shots?

I was saying before to some other people that I'm still yet to understand why teams don't double him because the other guys on Denver that would likely be on down the stretch outside of Boykins [who is injured now] if he's on are not known for their ability to shoot. Camby can hit mid-range J's decently, but is not a guy you go to. Dre is not a very good shooter, just decent, KMart when he plays is not a very good shooter, so... I think one other problem in general with game winning shots is that team become too predictable when they have their star dribble for 20 seconds then take a fadeaway flying out of bounds.
