Rockets Wish List for Offseason 1. Trade wesley and swift and waive bowen.. Wesley: he is going to retire in the next 2 years and hasnt been so good this year playing the 2 for us. he is old and needs to go.. Swift: he has no iq.. he is athletic..but has no defense... no consistency.. 2. After waiving or trading both swift and wesley, pick up a third scoring option thats a shooting guard.. Like : Jumaine Jones, Voshon Lenard, or Bonzi Wells 3. Get 1 of the top 10 picks and pick up: 1st round: Ronnie brewer, J.J. Redick Rodney Carney, or Kenny Adeleke 2nd round: Hassan Adams and Jarred Jordan 4. Keep Yao and Mac healthy because if they stay healthy and say if we pick up bonzi wells and money for swift and wesley, and we get jarred jordan and kenny adeleke..we can be strong Starting Lineup: Pg: Alston/Jordan/Head Sg: Bonzi Wells/Head/Bogans Sf: t-mac/bogans Pf: Kenny Adeleke/Howard/hayes C: Yao/Mutombo/Adeleke If we can do these things: I see us going to the western conference finals
If Howard is playing ahead of Hayes again next year, I won't be happy. I've seen enough of Howard and Hayes this season to know Hayes is the better of the two. The only thing Howard really has on him is an inconsistent jumpshot
swift need to stay, he just need more time for play... i think we can trade Howard for a SG PG Alston SG SF McGrady PF Swift C Yao

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> an inconsistent jumper is better than no jumper at all, is it not? Hayes can't score from outside 5 feet from the hoop</div> One can also argue that it hurts more to have the inconsistent jumper. At least the guy that can't shoot it outside of five feet knows he can't shoot it, so he doesn't take the shot. Meanwhile, the guy with the jumper will continually take the jumper, meaning less touches for guys that are actually effective.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting johnny33:</div><div class="quote_post">an inconsistent jumper is better than no jumper at all, is it not? The numbers back me up (Rockets as a team score more per possession with Hayes than with Juwan). When Juwan is hitting that jumper, it's all well and good. But more often than not he's bricking that jumper and when that's happening over the course of a game or even a half it can destroy the offense.
See in this article it clearly states that Yi JianLian becomes draft eligble this after this season under CBA rules i think. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why Yao is dominating now Chris Sheridan blog EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Del Harris considers Yao Ming his "friend for life," and the Dallas Mavericks' assistant coach has some unique insight into why the Houston Rockets' center has been so dominant over the past month. It all goes back to the tale of the bloody sock. Harris was coach of the Chinese National Team in 2004, and he remembered watching Yao take his sneaker off after the first national team practice he coached. "It was all red down by his toes, and when he took the sock off and you saw the toes --well, let's just say it was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen," Harris recalled Sunday. "If you were even the slightest bit squeamish, that thing would have made you vomit." After letting his toe fester for years, Yao finally underwent surgery in December after an infection spread to the bone. Harris said he has seen a huge difference in the way Yao is now able to run the court pain-free, and he said Yao's hiring of a personal trainer has also helped the big man get into the best shape he's ever been in. "He's down to 6 percent body fat, and you rarely see that in guys that size." I asked Harris if he saw any kind of a newfound mean streak in Yao's game, and he said a mean streak is something Yao is not capable of. But he said Yao had learned to show his emotions, something common among Americans but frowned upon in China as too individualistic. Yao himself took quite a bit of heat from his countrymen when he demonstrably criticized some of his teammates during the Olympics, the Chinese media questioning whether he had been "Americanized" to a fault and the national federation chastising him for his behavior. "Being an American, I can see where it's been a good thing for him to be able to release his emotions. To me, it's healthy. We're all humans, I don't care where you're from, and we do better when we're able to be really, honestly passionate about things. When you're emotional and passionate about whatever it is you're doing, that releases everything within you to get yourself through that. If your brain is telling you 'Hold back, hold back,' your body is going to listen to your brain," Harris said. Harris is considered somewhat of a hero in China for leading the national team to its best finish ever in an international competition when they finished eighth in Athens, making the quarterfinals with a stunning upset of defending world champion Serbia-Montenegro. Harris declined an opportunity to coach China again, and those duties are now being handled by Lithuanian Jonas Kaslauskas, who was Harris' top assistant in 2004. Harris said he is confident China will make it out of its preliminary round at this summer's World Championship, though he wouldn't go any further with his prediction. With 24 teams competing (twice as many as there were in Athens) as with Europe much more strongly represented, it'll be exceedingly difficult for China to medal -- even though they have the world's best center. Part of the problem with the Chinese national program, Harris once told me, was the way teenagers are selected for the national program. In a nutshell, their mistake was steering too many tall players into the basketball program at a young age while sending shorter players into other sports. The long-term result has been a system overloaded with big men and short on talented guards. The Chinese also rely too heavily on calisthenics and long practices under a military-type setting without devoting enough attention to agility drills and weight training. There will, however, be a Chinese guard in the NBA someday soon, and Harris believes it may be 17-year-old Sun Yue, who plays for Beijing Aoshen -- a California-based team in the minor league ABA. Sun, a 6-foot-8 point guard who needs to improve his outside shooting, will likely start for the Chinese national team this summer along with Yi Jianlian, who is expected to be draft eligible this summer despite questions about his true age (in the summer of 2004, there were some saying he was only 16.) Yi, a 7-footer whose parents played in China's national team handball program, will be known as the Chinese Andrei Kirilenko if he lives up to his potential. </div> I'd suggest to Chad Ford that he move him up from No. 99 in the next Top 100 draft prospects list. In my opinion, seconded Sunday by Harris and Nets president Rod Thorn, he'll be taken before the end of the first round.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">See in this article it clearly states that Yi JianLian becomes draft eligble this after this season under CBA rules i think.</div> Not under Chinese Government rules though. You have to understand that the players over there have to obey two sets of rules when regarding the draft- the CBA and the Chinese Government. Even if you're eligible to play living here, you might not be eligible to get drafted being a player in China.
I understand that I live in China. Problem is I do think that China might uphold some rules because Del Harris has been advising the Chinese goverment about letting players go out and develop aka Yi JianLian and sending Zhu Fanyu to europe to develop eventually for NBA. But China reluctant after seeing Mengke Bateer and Wang ZHiZHi on the bench. So it might happen who knows.
remember the Spurs the season before they drafted Duncan? They were a contender but David Robinson got hurt for most of the season and along with other injuries, they turned in a terrible season. They end up with the #1 pick and get Tim Duncan and the rest is history I'm hoping the same thing happens with the Rockets and even a low lottery pick can help the Rockets make a push next season..
Qyntel Woods is a free agent. Rockets need to get this guy. He is basically Bogans and Wesley (who are about the same below the rim player), just 10 times the athlete. Plus he is a ball handler and decent shooter. Add him with Roby who is my draft pick this week. Major above the rim improvement. The Rockets would have 3 above the rim guys who can play a legitimate SG/SF and that can handle the ball.
i would love to see the rockets draft Yi Jianlian. of course there is the whole issue with him declaring, but i really think he is a good talent. looking at his nba draft net profile, he seems like a very athletic big man that could bring some intensity to this team. a duo of yao and yi would be great to watch. of course there will always be an issue of who can play the power forward spot
Hey guys, I made this trade proposal just wanted to know what Houston fans think: Houston: Out- Stromile Swift, Rafer Alston, Dikembe Motumbo (filler), 06 1st rd. pick In- Fisher, Murphy, GSW 06 1st round pick (currently pick 6) GSW: Out- Murphy, Fisher, Pietrus, 06 1st round pick (#6) In- Jamaal Magloire, Rafer Alston, HOU 06 1st round pick Milwaukee: Out- Magloire In- Stromile Swift, Mickael Pietrus, Dikembe Motumbo (filler) Houston takes on some long deals but gets a consistent third scorer in Murphy, who will also get 10 rebounds a night, taking some pressure off of Yao with his rebounding and outside shooting. Fisher, while overpaid, is a clutch veteran who would thrive best on a team where his role is to take spot up 3's and he won't have to handle the ball much since McGrady works best with the ball in his hands. For the salary cap hit that Houston takes on they trade up to the Warriors' pick, which is currently the 6th overall pick in the draft, forgive me if I'm incorrect but I don't think Houston fans really like Alston or Swift so its a pretty good deal all around except for taking on some long deals. New HOU lineup: Fisher/Head/Brunson Drafted swingman or FA (Roy or Gay)/Keith Bogans/Frahm T-Mac/Bogans/Bowen Murphy/Howard/Hayes Yao/FA or drafted player Golden State dumps some long term deals (though they'll have to re-sign Magloire the following season) as well as Mickael Pietrus and trade down in the draft so that they can upgrade their starting C and backup PG positions. New GSW lineup: Baron/Alston/Bymum J-Rich/Monta Dunleavy/drafted swingman (Carney or Brewer) Ike/Taft/Zarko Magloire/Biedrins/Foyle Milwaukee probably won't re-sign Magloire because of the money he'll command and they've already committed to Bogut and Gadzuric. They lack defense and depth, they improve both through this trade. They gain a young, athletic SG who is a very strong defender and a solid scorer, as well as a young PF who can block shots and provide a solid big man off the bench. New MIL lineup: TJ Ford/Mo Williams Redd/Pietrus Simmons/Kukoc/Ilyaslova Swift/Smith Bogut/Gadzuric
This deal sucks because troy murphy is very inconsistent as a scorer, but rebounding is good. Unfortuantely rebounding is not what our FIRST priority is. Scoring from the gaurd position is. Fisher is old and injury prone. I would not be happy at all with him on the team.
That'll be a great deal. Murphy is a power forward with range that we can have beside Yao, and although you could argue that Howard gives us the same thing, Murphy hits his jumpers with much more accuracy and consistency. Plus, I'd pounce any chance I can to get rid of Swift. Fisher was one of the players we targeted two summers ago and he still would be the perfect point guard to run this team. Solid defender, good shooter who can play the two as well, and knows how to win. Fisher was very good with Shaq and Kobe and with Yao and TMac he could play the same role again. Not to mention we get a higher pick.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TmacGarnett:</div><div class="quote_post">This deal sucks because troy murphy is very inconsistent as a scorer, but rebounding is good. Fisher is old but hes in surprisingly good shape, he averages 38 minutes a game when he starts with 16 ppg, 6.3 assists, 2.1 steals, and 2.6 TOs. I can't remember the last time he was injured, if anything hes an ironman, his only real problems are taking bad shots and running the fast break. Oh, and BTW, with the 6-7 pick of the Warriors that may very well be good enough to get Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay, which would boost your scoring from the guard position now and especially in the future.
First off, Wesley, Sura, Brunson, Lampe should all be goners. Swift and Head are both nice trade bait, but I really like Head's game, so I'd keep him unless the a really nice package come with it. Players I'd watch out for are KG & Pedja. We can either go two routs. Either stick with the same nucleus, and add other pieces. Or say the hell with that, and build around Yao and trade Mcgrady. I'm torn ya'll. Because I love Mcgrady to death, but I get the feelin he'll never be healthy enough to lead us to the promise land. He has to play big minutes for us, but at the same time his back won't let him. Honestly, I'd seek a trade for Minnesota. Or I'd trade Mcgrady straight up for Paul Pierce and some other young talent on Celtics. But KG would be my main target. Yao & Garnett in the same uniform would be equivalent to Hakeem & Sampson. Since we're guranteed a nice draft pick, we're going to have a nice squad. But the main goal next season should be to GET YOUNGER.
I don't know how we're going to trade Sura, since he might retire and still has two years left on his contract. What has been the news on him anyway? Swift is the number one player who I think shouldn't be with the team next season. He's a pain to watch and could seriously jeopardize any team's chances of winning. Trade him for a second round pick or anything, just get his contract off the books. I guess we can officially say now that free agency of 2005 was a serious disaster. Let's erase all signs of last summer. It'd seriously suck to see TMac be healthy and win the MVP elsewhere. However, we have to do what we have to to win. Indiana didn't regret the Artest trade, and we shouldn't be hesitant to trade McGrady as well. If the right deal comes up, roll with it.
Man this sucks. Sura played awesome last year running point guard way better than Alston. Too bad for the injuries to him. If evryone can be healthy next year, We can have Sura and Mac back.
