I think Swift and the second round pick is good enough for somebody to bite. Jersey has 2 late first round picks, so maybe they can work something with one of them. I think the Rockets can get along fine with J.Howard and C.Hayes(next years JYD). Starting 2 guard and a SF that can shoot outside comming off the bench. Can we agree those are the most immediate needs? Rockets have to find a good starting 2 guard this off season. If they try to get it in the draft Richard Roby(if you dont know this guy, find some tape) or Redick Those are the best shooting 2's in my view. JJ size against NBA 2's is the only concern for me. Carney, Brewer or Brandon Roy none who are as good of shooters, as maybe afterthoughts if the Rockets plan on getting the starting 2 guard they need from the Draft.
Compared to Roby and JJ, I think Carney will have the harder time getting his own offense which showed the last game of the Tournament. He can shoot though when he is hot, and has unbelievable range. JJ can run off screens to get shots. Roby has an outstanding midrange game he can get himself. Both can contribute with the skills they have Carney is not as good of a ball handler as either and has to work on that, he is a great athlete but so is Roby. I would Rather have Roby or Carney than JJ personally.
I would prefer a guy that can create his own show. No one on our team can do that. When tmac is on the bench...no one can score besides yao. The 2 gaurd that we draft should be able to do the following things: 1) create his own shot when hes 1 on 1 2) dish the ball to yao in the post 3) shoot the open three with consistency Anyone that fills all 3 of those requirments should be drafted regardless.

The Rockets should draft Brandon Roy.
Roby is the obvious answer to me. Maybe I'm the only one, but the Rockets better pay attention to the guy. Brandon Roy is a good shooter and smart player but has no where near the jumping ability Roby has. Roby is 6'6 and is described as a Prototypical 2guard . He can jump out the gym, and strongest offensive is his one on one midrange game, defends and has long arms, plus he can shoot the three well but doesn't rely on it when he is cold.

The Rockets need a streaky 3 point shooter and a good disher. If you have Tracy McGrady and Yao on the court, he should be able to get open 3s, and he needs to get it to Yao in the post.
Hassan Adams He is not really an outside shooter, and thats what the Rockets need. 3FG% was way down this year, below 30% Plus I still think the Rockets should be after Qyntel Woods free agent from NY. He can shoot and handle the ball at SF off the bench

Hassan Adams is a good player, late first round pick for sure. But a high 1st rounder. Is he the starting 2 that the rockets need? He doesn't have any range. I noticed he got better off the dribble. The Rockets need a three point shooter though. Its been proven over the last half of the year thats where they need to improve. Is Hassan what the Rockets want to invest their 1st round pick on? I take J.J., Ager or Carney over Hassan If I'm the Rockets. Roby over em all, Hopefully that is known by now. I see Hassan going late 1st round to a team where he can come off the bench. If Phoenix, Sac or Dallas get this guy it would be great for them. I can name more good athletes in the draft but which will translates right away into a starting 2 in the NBA. Thats what the Rockets need right?
MoeinHouston, I think TmacGarnett means drafting Adams with the second round pick... Anywho, Brandon Roy, Rodney Carney, or Ronnie Brewer are my picks, in that ranking of who to pick first. What's so important about jumping ability anyway? Bottomline is he's quick and athletic enough to get up and down the court with the best of them. Although Roby has the potential for better defense, Roy's been faced with tougher opponents and has had some pressure situations in the NCAA tournament. My problem with Redick is that he might not be quick enough to run off screens and beat his man to the spot for the three. That, and he hasn't exactly prospered in the NCAA tournament, defenses which he'll be facing in the NBA.
Jumping ability Bogans is a good player but can't finish over bigger guys and that has showed to be his great weakness recently. Its all about finishing at the basket. If a guy can't leap, than it is a problem going to the basket in the NBA. Look at Reggie Miller getting swatted by Prince in the biggest and best moment of those playoffs. It was pretty important then.
Point taken, I had a brain fart. Things going against Roby however are how skinny he is (might mean he is injury prone) and needs to show he can work hard (which is important, we don't want another Swift on our hands). However, from what I've seen and heard, he's a tremendous shooter. Anyone know if he can create for himself and others? Because with McGrady bound to miss some games, we're going to need a player that can step it up and create some offense for other guys. After what happened this season, we need some insurance. Thats why I'm liking Ronnie Brewer or Brandon Roy, both have nice ball handling and passing abilities that will obviously help this team out when neither superstar is playing.
