<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OAKLAND, Calif. ? The Timberwolves waived little-used guard Richie Frahm on Thursday. Frahm, in his only season with the team, averaged 2.6 points in 25 games. He shot 36.9 percent, 31.3 percent from three-point range. The Houston Rockets are believed to be interested in signing Frahm, who also caught the eye of the Denver Nuggets before the trading deadline passed in February. "He's wanting an opportunity to play, and it wasn't going to happen here," Wolves coach Dwane Casey said. "We waived him, and it will give him an opportunity to go somewhere else." Frahm was signed to give the team another shooter in the wake of Fred Hoiberg's heart surgery. But the third-year NBA player couldn't find his shooting touch for much of the season. Opening night marked Frahm's best game with Minnesota. He made 5 of 6 from three-pointers and scored a season-high 18 points to help the Wolves defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 90-86 on Nov. 2. He shot 10 for 42 (23.8 percent) from behind the arc the rest of the season. His most recent appearance came Feb. 11 against New Orleans/Oklahoma City. Frahm was lost in a numbers game at guard behind starters Ricky Davis and Trenton Hassell combined with the emergence of rookie Rashad McCants, who has become the team's best three-point shooter. "He was very professional," Casey said. "He worked hard every day in practice. The older Richie gets, the more he'll have that sniper's mentality." Casey said the Wolves could call up rookie Bracey Wright from the NBA Development League at some point, but there are no plans to do so</div> Source
