I just had an arguement with a guy who stated that it doesnt matter how much chemistry a team has. A team with Average players will not win games. How true is this to you? I cant believe they wont be on the WIN column. Chemistry is so important. Take the Knicks for example. You know where this is leading to.
New Orleans Hornets are not a vastly talented team on either end of the floor, yet they were able to win games, even though they're on a downfall now. The Jazz in 03-04 won 42 games with a roster that you really would not call special in any way. Coaching and chemistry is what seperates an average team from a good team, a good team from a great team, and a great team from an elite team. Talent alone will not get you to the top, it can win you games, but it won't even always win you games.
I would also argue that the Pistons players aren't as good, individually, as say the Miami Heat's or the Phoenix Suns'. However, they elevate each other's performance because of a familiarity and communication that only comes from experience with each other. And it results in more wins. As og15 already said, good coaching and chemistry are a necessity for a championship team.
Oh definitely, chemistry is a huge part in winning and the difference between an average and elite team. Chemistry also takes time. Chutney describes it perfectly. When you're around and familar with your teammates for some time, you just know each other so well. You know each other's habits, making the game much easier.
