I didn't see the game, but just read the recap and box scores. First, CWebb is still being booed . I thought it would be over by now and it seemed both Webber and Nelson were at fault. It's called the Curse of Nelson, but it could just as well be called Curse of Webber that the W's haven't gone to the playoffs for 12 straight years. Second good game in-a-row by Dun -- 28 pts, 10 rebs, 6 assts . He and Murphy's rebounding especially contributed to the win. But it helped that the Sixers shot like the Warriors only worse. Is Samuel Dalembert going to be available this coming summer? He'd be a good fit on the Warriors.

I try not to get my hopes up too high. Dalembert... hmm he's nice, but I think we have a guy like that with Andris Biedrins. I think the guy we need is an improved version of motivated Erick Dampier or something at least like Dale Davis in his prime. We need a broad shouldered guy that will do the dirty work, patrol the paint, be an enforcer to body up on a guy, block shots, score on putbacks, pass, catch, keep the D honest with some drop step moves or hook shots. I think we're too soft and weak in the middle, but some big burgly guys that can leap, run the floor and shuffle their feet would be nice. That of course is hard to find... We ain't never going to the playoffs if our center is weak on defense and can't get us 2nd chance points to convert. Presence is also very key. Nobody is scared of Foyle.
Give us Troy Murphy and Derek Fisher for Dalembert + a 2nd Round Pick and I would be the happiest man alive.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Murphy is worth more than that </div> Yes, but if it allows us to unload his contract as well as Fisher's PLUS give Ike the starting PF position, I'm all for it.

I'm just saying if the deal could actually work, we deserve more for all the numbers those guys are posting.

If that wasn't you, I apologize as I can't account for what everyone says, when and where. I thought you were the one saying Murphy's numbers are overrated (not the exact quote) and that while he may be the "classic double-double" guy, his stats aren't necessarily impacting the game. Whether you said it or not and whether you agree with those arguments against Murphy's game or not (I'm ambivalent, for the record), I think being able to free up salary AND develop Ike as a starting PF would be more beneficial than keeping Murphy even though his numbers have been great. But as you said, the salaries don't match up so it's a moot proposal.

But c'mon let's not jump on the first trade idea that comes along, especially one that doesn't work in real life. Murphy's numbers are overrated for a team that is crying for defense, higher % inside scoring, and more second chance points. Maybe this can be fixed with being paired up with a better center, but how many good centers are in this league that can defend and score inside? Frankly, I'd rather have a PF/C tandem that can do the inside work, hit midrange shots, defend, pass, without always looking to score first. The momentum with Murphy gets screwed up so many times because he doesn't look to set people up. None of our big men play the high post very well and neither does Foyle to be able to play away from the basket as a starter. And if there's nothing to complement the outside big guy's game other than to shoot or try to drive it in, it's just killing the team game. Ike's time to become starter is not something we should rush Murphy out the door. But Murphy should be traded for some pieces that will actually help us now. I don't think Dalembert is that guy even though he can be exciting as watching Stromile Swift throw one down. Those two guys just don't make the team better consistently. I'd rather get a good player for somebody that wants rebounding and an midrange/outside shot.
