Apologies if this has been posted before. Who do you think is the most underated player in the NBA right now?

I feel Jason Terry is definatley one of them. He is a solid player who is a key part in the Dallas offense and also has decent career averages of 15.8ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.3apg, but he just never seems to get that recognition for his efforts.

So many to chose from. A real good question for a player. Would have said Josh Howard of Dallas several months ago, but having seen him no opponent or press writer is underrating him as much. There's always a big man responsible for alot of thing that go right at the defensive end that lead to points for his team. Voting this AM for Big Jake of Memphis Grizzlies.

Hmm, Kwame Brown, Stromile Swift, Darius Miles...LOL

Um..I'd say, Cuttino Mobley, Caron Butler, Chris Kaman is starting to get really good...and I still say Shawn Marion doesn't get enough credit for the things he does for his team.

Shawn Marion. For the top 10 player that he is, he isn't getting anywhere near the props he should get.

And I'm going to throw out Yao Ming.

Actually, alot of people, even experts, do think Yao is underrated because of his intangables. Overhyped is different than overrated.

Why did I mention Shawn Marion if I thought the thread was about the most overrated player?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the reason Yao is underrated is because people think he's overrated. Some are quick to say that he's "overrated" despite that string of 20+ for 14 games and his averages after the All Star break. So many are overlooking him, and that's what makes him underrated.

The only knock I have on Marion is that he emerged as a "superstar" when Nash came along. I'd have to see him carry a team before I'd call him a top ten player. Some guys I'll throw out are:

Jason Williams- he has really matured and is making very smart decisions and I think he will be a key for Miami in their playoff run.

Morris Peterson- he is playing great ball in Toronto right now

I love Elton Brand, but I think he's finally getting his due this season. In the first half of the season he was the front runner for the MVP award. If that's not getting your due nothing is.

To everyone: I don't see how you can be underrated when your an All-Star.

I agree, we're not talking about last year, or anything, so i find him not being underrated. I also find AK47 underrated as well.
