<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Charlie Bell thought his National Basketball Association dream might be fading.

Then he found the Milwaukee Bucks, and suddenly the dream was a stunning reality.

He's going mano-a-mano with Carmelo Anthony one night, Paul Pierce the next. Joe Johnson, Vince Carter, name the NBA star, and Bell certainly has guarded him this season.

On his assignment list this week will be Seattle SuperSonics guard Ray Allen and the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant, as the Bucks head west for a three-game trip that opens tonight in Portland.

Yes, it's a bit different from the challenges Bell faced last season while playing for Rio Leche Breogan in the Spanish League.

"These guys are like superstars to me," Bell said. "I was on the outside looking in, and to be out there playing with these guys. . . . I catch myself sometimes just looking at guys in awe.

"Wow, I'm guarding Kobe. Or this is LeBron right here. Last year I was watching his highlights, going to practice and telling my teammates, 'Did you see LeBron last night?' "

Despite missing 22 games with a right knee sprain, Bell has had a profound impact with the Bucks. He was signed to a two-year deal that pays him $642,000 this year and $745,000 next season, bargain numbers for Bucks general manager Larry Harris.

The Bucks acquired Bell to provide point guard insurance for T.J. Ford and Mo Williams, and to serve as a shooting guard to spell Michael Redd. He has performed both roles ably, and recently his playing time has increased because of an ankle injury that has plagued Williams.</div>

    Charlie Bell is awesome.
    Plays D
and when he gets the chance due to injuries he scores and dishes out assists as well.
