<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Frank Hughes:</div><div class="quote_post">Who's the least media-friendly person in the Sonic organization?
    - Anonymous

FH: It was, without question, Flip Murray. But since he got traded to Cleveland, and since you included the entire organization, I would now say Howard Schultz. He has become very sensitive since this arena thing took on a life of its own. Overall, the players in the Sonics locker room all are very accessible and very nice.</div>

You all called me paranoid when I said that the News Tribune wrote unfavorable articles about Ron Murray purposely. Considering that everyone who wrote in to Frank Hughes had to state who they are and where they were from I honestly think that Hughes wrote the question himself to take a parting shot at Flip. Very professional.

And it good to know the order of priorities in which Ray assesses his performances. In the world of Ray Allen, playing well and getting paid takes all precedence over anything else--including winning.

Give it a rest already. His team got as far as the sweet sixteen -- what's he supposed to say -- his fondest memory is of losing and playing bad? I'm sure had the team gone further, he would have had that game as his favorite, regardless as to how he played in it. You accuse the News Trib of purposely showing Flip in a bad light, but your constant sniping and twisting of all things concerning Ray really makes you look like a bitter fool.

I would think that Ray, being in a ton of big games in college in which his team won, would think more fondly of his team playing hard and winning than him finding complete joy in a great performance in a losing effort. Considering the talent that Ray played with at UConn I would think that he should be a little disappointed that his team never reached the Final Four.

I don't like Ray Allen, but I'm not a journalist whose job is to be objective when covering the Sonics. When Ray plays well, I'll acknowledge that, but in my estimation he is a selfish teammate who has duped people into believing that he is a team first guy.

So hooper, I hope that you take into consideration that the word bitter applies to someone who is upset with the events that happen in their life and wishes the worst on others. And the word fool applies to someone who doesn't know the difference.

Hahaha, I thought it was hilarious when I first read that about Ray. Shiek's right, that's just a selfish moment to pick as your favorite college memory.

Oy vey! Where to even begin with this one.

Casual -- Allen wasn't asked what his "favorite college memory was". The question was: "What was your NCAA Tournament highlight?"

    http://www.nba.com/sonics/news/ncaa060319.html

Now, maybe he understood that to mean his personal highlight -- I don't know, I wasn't there. Pretty sloppy of Gary Washburn to insert the word "favorite" there -- when no such word was ever used.

But, even if he interpreted it the way people on this board have, let's recap his three NCAA experiences:

Freshman year -- Sweet sixteen loss to Florida (playing in Miami) in overtime when UConn's all-everything Donyell Marshall clanks 2 free throws with 3 seconds remaining in regulation. Now there's a fond memory.

Sophomore year -- Team makes it all the way to the elite eight where they play a red-hot UCLA team (in Oakland) that ends up winning everything. Teams slug it out in one of those instant-classic type games, where both teams play at a very high level for the whole game. Ray had an absolutely amazing game. And even though the team lost, no one hung their heads afterward, because they knew they had given their best. Kevin Ollie was on that team also, and I bet if you asked him, he'd consider that game a highlight too, and he didn't have nearly the game that Ray did.

Junior (and last) year -- Team loses in sweet 16 after a disappointing performance. Ray has 22, but not nearly enough to lift the team past a crappy Mississippi State team.

Now given those options, what would stand out in your mind? I suppose he could have chosen a first-round win as his highlight, but at UConn the standards are set a little higher than that.

Bitter: Characterized by strong feelings of hatred, resentment, cynicism, etc. (Webster's New World Dictionary) -- I'd say that's a pretty accurate portrayal of how you come across where Ray is concerned.

Now, having said that, except for your hang-up with Ray, I generally find you to be one of the more interesting and knowledgeable posters.

I don't think Frank Hughes made that question up because it isn't the only question that is labeled Anonymous on the page. Here is the other one.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Would have players resisted another year under a tough head coach like Nate McMillan? What do you think?
    - Anonymous

FH: I think that they would have had to, particularly if Nate had gotten a long-term deal and the team made it clear he was there to stay. No matter what players say, they, like little kids, seek structure and discipline. I think the players did not have a problem so much with Nate's tough approach but they felt like they never were rewarded or given a pat on the back when things went well. It would have been interesting to see if Nate would have changed if he got a deal from the Sonics and felt like he did not have to prove himself to management or the players anymore. We'll never know.</div>

Put that way, I have to say I am bitter about Ray.
