What's interesting to Tom "Killer" Kowalski is that the receivers don't have confidence in the quarterback. Yes, he does say the QB doesn't have confidence in the WRs, but the big red flag was the first part.

Killer has never seen a lockerroom more open about their disdain for the quarterback. Back when Scott Mitchell was here there was some semblance for team unity, "there just doesn't seem to be any of that here." Roy Williams has said this repeatedly -- like he told Stoney and Wojo that when Jeff Garcia gets back he can push Harrington. "If that's not an indictment of your starting quarterback I don't know what is."

Harrington has the second-lowest rating of NFL QB's, and he's barely beating out Kyle Orton, the Chicago rookie. It's 52.7 to 51.7. "For a guy who's playing that long to produce that little, that's alarming." When deciding between Mariucci or Harrington as the problem, Killer has decided that it's the quarterback's fault. (That's what he meant by 95 percent) If Mariucci had a different QB, with these receivers, how good would they be? Mariucci even wants to know. He clearly doesn't think he's getting it out of Harrington.

Killer says there's no question that Harrington has regressed. Not his accuracy, he never had that. His decision-making -- the progression, looking downfield for plays, it's not there anymore. Mariucci will tell you the things he likes at QB -- decision-making, timing, mobility, and accuracy. Right now he doesn't have any of these. When you wonder if Garcia will start, draw your own conclusions.

This clown is being paid $500,000 per game ... I hope he's saving it because the gravytrain is coming to an end.

Zackman,
I assume you aren't a Harrington fan. Do you think Garcia will be the answer? I know you haven't seen much out of him with this offense obviously, but do you expect them to go somewhere else next year or give Garcia a try while grooming a young potential?

Garcia has been inconsistent in the last couple years, but his place on his respective teams may have lent to some of that. Just curious what your take on him is.

as long as harrington does bad against the panthers i will be happy. I know Charles Rodgers is suspended. How is Mike Williams and the rest of the WR core looking?

If the Lions had a good QB I would consider them the favorites in the NFC North but because of Harrington I feel the Packers,Vikings, and Bears are all in it. In fact I don't think Detroit will win the divsion. If they had a QB. They'd be very dangerous. I was such a big Joey Harrington fan when he was at Oregon. I thought he was going to be someone someday.

They would win it if they even had a decent QB. They can't even use play action because everyone knows that Joy H can;t throw the ball. They have spoilt him with so many WRs in the last three drafts and yet he finds a way to come out with terrible statitics.

Out of what he said only Favre is the old one out of the group. Harrington is still rather young in "football years" Williams is only like 24 or 25.

harrington isnt getting any help from his line and his RBs. Panthers were at the bottom in sacks of the nfl, and we had like 5 sacks in that game.

The D couldnt stop the panthers??? The Defense was the leading scorer. It was all the Offense. The Defense scored 14 points, the offense only 6!!!! That is all the offense, horrible pass protection

I was just about to say that. The O only scored like 6 points. I understand that Williams and Rogers were out but Mike Williams is a first round draft choice and Kevin Johnson is a pretty good WR. Not to mention Marcus Pollard. Harrington is joke. I hate to squarly put it on his shoulders though. Kevin Jones had a decent game a week ago and this week he struggles all game long. The line is bad and the defense before this game hasn't been playing up to par. Yet the Lions are in the NFC North where the Texans would be contending yet.

I think some of the blame has to go on that offensive line, because Harrington cant throw down the field if he gets hit every time

Oct. 18 Detroit Free Press: So if you're scoring at home (presumably on an interception return), here's the situation:

Harrington is the guy, by default. Garcia continues to heal. Unless Harrington suddenly turns into Joey Montana (odds of that happening: 473,964 to 0.05), Mariucci hopes his team can squeak by until Garcia is ready to take the baton.

The Joey Era isn't over yet, but his final handoff is coming.

Garcia may be worse or as bad anyways, he was terrible for the Browns last year, and his body is really struggling from all them hits he has taken.

Jeff Garcia didn't have a good year last year, but was it his fault? The Browns suck and I've never understood the moves made by the front office.

No one is worse than Harrington, how you have that many threats on offense and still cant score is beyond me. Garcia played pretty well when he was on the 9ers, I think he can make the Lions a playoff team.
