I don't know how hard it is to go through the transfer, but I think Gonzaga should go to the Pac-10. They always get criticized for playing low levels of competition, so why don't they just put an end to that by moving into the Pac-10. I'm sure the Pac-10 would accept them, and I'm sure Gonzaga would love the challenge of being in the Pac-10, so I don't see why they shouldn't. I'm assuming that it's probably tough to switch confrences, but still it would be cool to see them move into the Pac-10.
I'm not sure what they have to do to transfer but they have to at least shed the "mid-major" level off of their backs because simply they are past that now. They look like they can be a top ten team every year and deserve to switch conferences.

I wouldn't mind adding the Zags then a team like Nevada or UNLV to make it a even amount of teams. Then move the Utes to the WAC to replace Nevada and San Diego St. to WCC to replace Zags. MWC is really a mid-major IMO anyways, they always are mediocre cept for the few top teams, add some Big West teams to that conference and UC-Davis to Big West It'd be sick Zags-UW rivalry every year Zona-Nevada would be cool too.
The Zags and the Pac-10 would both benefit from this but so far I haven't heard anything about it. There would have to be another team joining the conference as well so that it is even at 12, Nevada is a good suggestion.
I don't know, but can't your basketball team be in a different confrence then your football team? Notre Dame is in the Big East for basketball, but an Independent in football. Also, Conneticut's football team just joined the Big East, but there basketball team has been there forever.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Fast Luck:</div><div class="quote_post">Do they even have a football team?</div> Nope, they haven't had one since 1941. I wouldn't want the Zags in the Pac-10. There are already 4 representives from the North West in the Pac-10 with Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, and Washington State. The Zags don't need to be in a different conference to improve their RPI or schedule strength. They can always schedule out of conference games against the better teams. Playing in Maui improved their RPI this year and gave them a good idea about where there the team was at. It really depends on the philosophy of the coach and the athletic department. Some coaches like to cake walk down the stretch to secure a higher seeding and a strong showing at the end to impress the selection committee. Other coaches like to test their team at the end to get a better idea of exactly where they're at right before tournament time.

Just like with Arizona, we didn't have a very good seaosn, but made it to the tourny based on our RPI rating and the non conference games we played. Granted, we didn't win any of them...
I'm pretty sure the RPI resets every season to zero, which is why the RPI it's not very telling, until mid season. You might be thinking about the Sagarin Rating, he uses a starting point based on previous few years.
