Wilcox has got 20 at the half. KC just said he jumps as high and fast as Kemp 'without the theatrics'.

    Bucks are shooting almost 60%...

Is Chris pricing himself out of a return to Emerald City?

Nope, he's pricing other people out of the deals that they wanted.

Sweet Lew, Nick Collison, and/or Luke Ridnour might not get the deals that they want partly b/c it looks like Chris is a keeper in the Green and Gold.

3 years 15 million for Wilcox. Maybe more if the market dictates it.

Well despite the fact that Ray had a horrible game, it's a nice win. Wilcox ends up with 30 and 13. One thing I like about him is he seems to have some good mitts - can catch the ball in traffic as well as when he gets his hands on a rebound it's usually his.

He will get more than that I would think, unless he has a real slump between now and the end of the season.

I find it interesting that the biggest knock on him is his IQ, but in reality, anyone who can run the floor and finish like he can is going to have some success in this league.

He should get more than that, I just threw out a ball park figure that I thought that he'd be offer from the Supes.

Rick likes to keep contracts short so I don't envision Wilcox getting a 6-7 year deal. How much more is a guy who has yet to average double figures worth to Howard. I see 6 million a year being the ceiling for which Rick and Co. are going to be willing to offer. With Sweet Lew, Nick, and Luke being free agents in '07 I don't think that you will see Wilcox offered a contract that exceeds his market value.

That being said if someone else sets the value I'm sure we'll match the deal though.

I think you'd be looking at 5/30 as an absolute maximum at this point, and if he does sign a long term deal, it'll probably be around 5/25.

That said, if he continues to put up numbers like he has been doing, what's to stop a team putting in something upwards of 40 million and guaranteeing him a starting role? Will certainly be interesting.

If he keeps playing like this, its gonna be tough to give him anything less than a full MLE deal and have him accept it. His agent will say things like...

    1) "you offered Vladi 6/42 with incentives last year, and traded him straight up for Chris - so you obviously think Chris is at least as valuable as Rad"
    2) look at your record before Chris got here, and after - he's worth more than the MLE
    3) Kwame just got 3/25, and he's garbage

    SEA probably counters with...

    1) look at what Vladi is commanding now - its a different market
    2) Chris only performed for 1/3 a season, and with Nick back his #'s and role won't be as big.
    3) Look at what Stro Swift got last year, and he's a good comparison for Chris - 4/23

Assuming he keeps up the solid play from now until the end of the season, I wouldn't mind anything in the 4-5 yrs 20-30 million range. I'll guess that Sund would prefer to give him a 3-4 year deal leaving him at 27-28 yrs old when he comes up again. If you resign him then, even for 5 yrs, he's still at a high level at the end of his 2nd deal.

I just hope something can be resolved besides him accepting the QO. If he keeps putting up decent stats (which with Nick out, he'll have plenty of opportunity), my guess is there will be plenty of teams willing to give him a 4-5 year MLE deal considering his age. ATL and NJ could be interested, and imagine him alonside CP3...

I dunno, sure he's impressed, especially the last 2 games, but you have to be worried about his desire, attitude and focus if you throw big money at him.

Plus most of his points have been in transition and on lobs, so the type of team he'd be going to will be critically important i.e, if we're committed to the running game Seattle is definitely a good fit. Defensively I'm not sure yet how he is in the post and on his rotations. Of course putting him in our defense isn't exactly an ideal situtation to judge someones 'basketball IQ'.

I do like his work on the glass, though, he's almost Webber like in that regard.

Good points all around. The type of team that could utilize him most effectively is defintately an up-tempo club like you mentioned. Imagine him on NJ, a 2,3,4 of Carter, Jefferson, and Wilcox with Kidd at the point - 90% of their attempts would be dunks! I do think he's a great fit with both Ridnour and Earl - which is obviously a plus and also a great contrast to both Ray and Lew.

The playing for a contract angle isn't something I'm too concerned about, although it is something to consider. To me he's not like a JJ or Olowacancer because they were given ample time during non-contract years to produce and just were lazy. Wilcox really hasn't had much of a chance to earn significant minutes being behind Brand, and when he did, it was often alongside him slightly out of posistion and the Clipps were playing a halfcourt style more suited to Elton's game.

Wilcox kind of reminds me of the way K-Mart played those two finals years with Kidd/Jefferson/Kittles...
