<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Raptors waived Antonio Davis on Thursday, effectively ending a season in which the center was suspended for five games for climbing into the stands after his wife got into a confrontation with a fan in Chicago. Davis missed the past 12 games after injuring his back in the third quarter of a game against Miami on Feb. 27. He was acquired in a trade with New York on Feb. 3, shortly after serving his suspension. He appeared in eight games with Toronto averaging 4.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 23.9 minutes. "After receiving a second opinion on Antonio's lingering back problems, it is very unlikely that he would return to competitive action this season with the Raptors," said Bryan Colangelo, the team's president and general manager. "After lengthy discussions with Antonio regarding his physical condition and his general sense of disappointment over his personally difficult year, we have concluded that it's in the best interest of both the organization and Antonio Davis to simply release him at this late point of the season." </div> Source
Good, i didn't like his attitude anyways. He didn't seem like he was enjoying his stay here in Toronto.
Not to be tasteless but, at least we got 2 or 3 games out of him. I wonder how bad his back really is?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting P.A.P.:</div><div class="quote_post">His back is fine.</div>I think so, too. It's just too bad nobody ever tells the truth in these situations. I'd think it would put some control on players' bitching in the future. Players would have second toughts about trying to control their own destiny if the teams would call them out for it, instead of taking this kind of approach.
So much for "honoring his contract" Not that we want him here anyways but what a joke. Everyone from day one knew that he would just sulk and complain until he got his wishes. I never respected him anyways, so this is no surprise. He's just as bad as Mouring in my eyes.
Well it's probably better this way ... i don't want antonio davis' wife loose on the streets of toronto.
well i guess now he can go back to where he feels the most comfortable all his career= his lovely wife's arms
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post">so what happens with his contract? its off the books as of now?</div> No, we still pay him until the end of the season. Just means we have another roster spot. Think Colangelo will pick up a 10 day center?
