Houston (29-39) at New Orl/OKC (32-33) Preview - Box Score - Recap Game Info: 8:00 pm EST Thu Mar 23, 2006 TV: FxSW, COX The Hornets took advantage of their last game in New Orleans to snap their longest losing streak of the season. They'll now look to get back into the playoff picture as they return to Oklahoma City to host the struggling Houston Rockets. The Hornets beat the Los Angeles Clippers 120-108 on Tuesday, ending an eight-game losing streak that dropped them to ninth place in the Western Conference. The game was the Hornets' third and last in New Orleans this season because of Hurricane Katrina. "Guys are leaving here with images they'll never forget for the rest of their lives," said P.J. Brown, whose home in suburban Slidell, La., was damaged by the storm -- and still isn't repaired yet. "We just wanted to win this one for the fans." The Hornets are scheduled to return to New Orleans full-time for the 2007-08 season. Until then, they are temporarily based in Oklahoma City. Team Stat Leaders Points T. Anyone else care more about losing and getting a higher draft pick rather than winning this game and not being the only team in NBA history winless in there division? That sais a lot, and that much work needs to be done during this off-season. A good thing imo. We still have to play Memphis and San Antonio, but those games are as good as lost. Rockets 81, NOK 86 making us 29-40! Oh we movin on up!
Actualy I didn't want to make history by becoming the first team to not win a division game so I'm happy with this win.
Yao had a subpar game, rebounding and turnover-wise. But I thought Juwan played well and Rafer's jumpers were falling.
Not sure if I should be happy because of draft, but at least Alston started to score, which is a good thing.
How did the Rockets win. Going by the box score, it looks like we should have lost. We got outrebounded (3 offensive rebounds vs 21) and we committed more turnovers (19 vs 10). But we did shoot 49% to their 36%. Did the Rockets play very good defense, or did we finally find a team with a worst offensive game than us? Also, how did Alston only get one assist?
I know it's very unlikely that we'd make the playoffs now, and realistically we'd need to win 42 games at least to make it, but if we make a push...

Quoting Locke:

but if we make a push...
We'd blow our chances of getting a good draft pick. That's the only thing that would come of it. Still, I can't help but root for the Rockets during games. But when they win, I'm like, "Damn it!"
