Pau goes for 20 in the first quarter today

Big effort, and shows what he can do when he decides to take over.

Disappointing end to the quarter given the start and given how Pau played though.

Chucky Atkins kills us on defence, but hopefully someone can step up to help Shane out on defence otherwise Seattle will just keep hitting those treys all night long.

Right now they're on a 35-15 run, which is just unacceptable on our own court.

 

Pau is a good shooter, and I agree that Atkins is one of the worst defenders. when he was in the Lakers, I used to get pissed off at him and begging Mitch to trade him cause he was killing us. He also takes too many threes. There's a reason why he got waived by Washington, but Grizzlies are in need of a point guard since Damon's injured.

 

Atkins is just horrible, makes me incredibly angry every time he is on the court.

Pau has 26 at the half, but we're 10 down (after being up 14 early).

We've let Seattle go for 56% from the field, and 64% from beyond the arc. Unacceptable.

 

Pau is going for 50!

 

Pau is up to 38, and he played really well that quarter, turning a 10 point deficit into a 4 point lead.

If we can go on with it we'll equal the franchise record for most consecutive W's.

Come on boys.

BTW Atkins is still rubbish.

 

Battier is helping Atkins out on defense by taking on his person when Atkins goes for a steal.

 

We've given up a couple of treys already this quarter. Really need to knuckle down and play some defence.

 

Now we give them a couple of offensive rebounds, and we're suddenly behind.

 

3 down now, no shots going down, Seattle getting to the line.

We were 4 up at 3/4 time, and have only scored 6 points in the first 7 minutes of the last quarter.

We desperately need someone to hit a clutch shot or two, someone needs to help Pau.

And right on cue, Mike Miller steps up with two huge shots after Pau got a basket.

Gone from 3 down to 4 up in a matter of seconds.

Fight boys, come on.

 

Pau hits a pair of clutch free throws. 2 up with 1.31 left.

We need one big basket and a stop.

 

And once again Mike Miller responds.

4 up with 58 seconds left.

 

Sure enough, Ray Allen hits a big trey.

1 up with 25 seconds left.

 

And we have a shot clock violation. F'ing hell.

Seattle have the ball with 16 seconds left. Ray Allen is the perfect guy to break our hearts.

 

And as expected, Ray Allen pretty much ices the game with only 0.03 left on the clock.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

 

4 up with under a minute left and we manage to lose it on our own home court.

Unbelievable

 

At least Pau got 44 points, but losing by 1 is even worse than getting blown out.

 

Sonics should have been called for a shot-clock violation on the Allen three pointer, looking at the replay. Oh well.
