<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks acknowledges his team isn't playing like a playoff team and he hasn't seen a sense of urgency out of them in the last two games. They're coming off a lackluster effort in a 92-79 loss to Indiana on Sunday.

"I was disappointed that we weren't at the level we needed the last two games to be at to win these games," Cheeks said. "Looking over the tape again, there's no sense of urgency. I've got to take some responsibility in that, that I have to get these guys ready and get them up for the game. Every game is important. I've preached to them that possessions become quarters, quarters become games.

"For us not to hold onto that eighth slot, we have to continue to lose. Somehow, someway, we have to change that -- change the feeling, change the vibe, get some confidence. Somehow, you've got to do that. Certainly, Chicago is right there. It's a balance that can go any way at any time. We have to change that feeling, change that vibe, of going out on the floor and believing you can win games."

Cheeks knows his team has to do a better job on the defensive end and with rebounding, areas that have haunted them all season. They watched film at practice for an hour, then worked mostly on defense.

But Cheeks knows it will take more than practice to make the Sixers better.

"Like I told them (Monday), I was sitting in that seat they're sitting in at one time," Cheeks said. "I know the feeling of playing important games, knowing the things you have to do when you're getting ready to play an important game. I can't say to a player after games, "Show me some feeling.' I can't say that. I don't know how to make that feeling for them.

"I know how I felt as a player, I know how I feel as a coach. I know how that feels losing a game when I feel I didn't give everything I had out on the floor. I want them to feel that. I made reference to Chris not having a long time left (and) Allen having been here 10 years. Sometimes, we get caught in that feeling thinking we have next year, the next game."
