Smush is servicable, but he aint great either.... He always gets schooled my faster pg's. I still say we need to get bigger up front. Odom can run the point . The tri doesnt need a pure point guard.

smush is a good point guard. very good considering the amount of money he is getting payed. but he by no means should be a starter. he could be a great player coming off the bench for us. with that said, we should use our MLE next season on a point guard with starting calibure like marcus banks and mike james. then smush can come off the bench to provide us with more offense

anyways, great win by the lakers. i was worried at first because they never seemed to get the league, but in the 2nd their defense showed the way. im very impressed with ronny and kwame and i hope they continue their play. as long as we win the games were supposed to win, we will make it to the playoffs

I think the Lakers are the only team Smush can be a starter for in the league. The Triangle is designed for guards like him because he's not a playmaker off the dribble.

It's his job to lose next season and there are a lot of areas for him to improve on. The major improvement needs to take place on the defensive end of the ball. Smush needs to spend all summer with his arms tied behind his back so he can focus on playing defense with his feet instead of gambling on the reach in.

He also needs to learn how to shorten his dribble and learn how to use his body to protect the basketball better. Smush gets stripped a lot just bringing the ball up because he doesn't shield off his defender.

Smush has all the physical tools to be the Lakers starting guard. All of his shortcomings can be fixed and I have faith in this coaching staff.

The Lakers have already said they plan to bring in a veteran guard during the offseason and will spend the entire MLE on a 5 year contract.

I'd guess Marcus Banks and Jason Terry could be the possible targets.

As for the game last night, the Lakers held the Sonics to just 38% shooting. The only play the Sonics kept beating the Lakers on was the lob pass to Chris Wilcox. Everything from the Sonics was coming from the perimeter.

Luke Walton has been killing it off the bench lately. I really like his contributions the last few games and the fact he's taking it to the rim with the intention of scoring.

Also Ronny Turiaf gave the Lakers a lift on defense with a block shot leading to a Kobe layup to end the half. He also had 7 rebounds and 6 points in just 16 minutes.

Kwame got his double/double 12/13, these are the type of numbers we need from Kwame the rest of the way.

Off topic: Was anyone else blown away at how long it took for the officials to figure out the jump ball between George and Mikki Moore? It took close to 8 minutes before they finally got it right. Unbelievable!

Hahaha yeah, Devean George was like "come on..." lol, I could tell Phil was mad too since the Sonics pulled a fast one on him

I agree with the Smush comments. IMO he is doing pretty good for himself considering he went from garbage minutes to starter on the Lakers franchise. He still needs to develop you like said though. I also think a good Center would help the Lakers, one that could guard the paint better. I like the fact that Joel Pryzbilla is becoming a free agent soon [IMG]

Personally I think we should wait and see how Kwame finishes out the season. We are also trying to Develop Bynum, by getting another Center he would be behind Pryzbilla, Mihm, and Kwame.

The only way we could get Pryzbilla anyways is through a sign and trade with portland and I'm not sure he's worth the money because you know they are going to pay over market value lol.

The jumpball was totally funny. It went right back to the lakers too. I think Ridour should have jumped with Devan. That would have been great... haha
