I know he plays for the bobcats but I actually liked him as a backup for Bryant when he was with LA. Your thoughts? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Charlotte Bobcats waived guard Kareem Rush on Saturday. Rush, who began the season as the team's starting shooting guard, eventually lost his starting position and fell out of favor with coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff. Rush did not play Friday night in a loss to Chicago, the second time in the past six games he did not play despite being healthy. "The Bobcats are about two things -- hard work and maximum effort," Bickerstaff said. "With that in mind, we think that it's best to go in another direction with Kareem." The 6-foot-6 Rush, acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in December 2004, averaged 11.5 points with Charlotte last season. He was averaging 10.1 points this season, and had a 35-point game against Indiana on Nov. 16. </div> http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-b...ov=ap&type=lgns
good new, it would be nice to sign him again. He played under Phil Jackson before and knew the triangle a thing or two. But only sign him for a small contract. I don't even know what the reason to sign Jim Jackson now. What the point of signing someone when you know you're not going to play him every night? the Lakers seem to waste their money again
Does anyone know Mitch Kuptchak's number? Someones needs to tell him, release Jim Jackson... who I think doesnt appreicate being a Laker... Sign Rush... Warriors need to release Fisher... Spurs need to release Horry... Rick Fox needs to come out of retirement... And Shaq? well... No!
Rush would be tight. I'm sure that the Lakers are on it and are figuring out who to release, I'm thinking Aaron McKie. He was a risky move this season because of his age, and that proved right when he went out with injury. He isn't going to be any younger next year and I think Rush would be a GREAT addition, I wasn't very happy when we traded him in the first place. He has triangle experience, as well as meaningful playoff experience as well. As everyone know's he understands the triangle, and would instantly become our best 3 pt shooter, something that could be VERY valuable in the playoffs.
yeah, i like rush when he was with the lakers. he is a very streaky shooter, but when he starts to feel it, hes almost as unstoppable as kobe. i still remember the game when he scored 30 points. but he must not have been such a good player, or else he would still be on the bobcats
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he must not have been such a good player, or else he would still be on the bobcats</div> The bobcat's made a blatant swipe at his work ethic so that could be it
There's really no benefit at signing Rush because he won't be eligible to play in the post season. I don't think he would be effective with the current Laker roster either. The Lakers don't have a dominant post player, so Rush isn't going to get the open shots he got when Shaq was down low. The only player drawing double teams is Kobe, so having Rush backing Kobe up doesn't work. The ideal backup for Kobe would be someone who can create off the dribble and/or move without the basketball.
Lakers should try to get him back. I liked the way he played and shot threes for the Lakers. I remember clearly the game when he scored 30 while Kobe was injured and made like 5 threes.
Shape does have a good point. Two actually, though I still think he'd be an improvement over green...
I actually like Green...he does things right and is fundamentally sound....IF i had to release someone it would be McKie...he doesn't really do anything for our team even if he was healthy...Productivity-wise I would take Green over McKie not only cause he is young, but I believe him to be a sound-er player....wouldn't be too bad to have Rush back although I'm with Shape in the fact that I want a guy who can work without the ball effectively and be able to get his own shot by coming off screens and movement ala Rip Hamilton or Reggie Miller (my bball idol and yes i do admit that I got teary-eyed while watching his jersey retired)...so yeah...now I'm at a point where I just blabber....

We have Lamar and Kobe for that. He can just hang around the perimeter and wait for Lamar or Kobe to pass him the ball. Then again, it's better having him on the floor with Kobe than Sasha and Smush. He can play the PG at well, his height is similar to smush. I agree that if he won't be eligible to play in the playoff, then there is no reason to sign him. Our current lineups can take us to the playoff. And I think we should keep our salary cap space for the future than risk wasting our money on another player. Jim Jackson proven he can't bring anything to the Lakers, and that is enough.
We should sign him in the offseason. He would cost less than George while providing the same points as him. Sign Rush to the LLE and we could still sign a good player with our MLE.
