Despite playing his 4th year in the NBA, Smush Parker is more of a sophmore than a four year vet. This season has been his only real opportunity to start for a team and play significant minutes. So how does Smush stack up against his counterparts. Here's a look at the breakdown against some of the PGs, from the 2004 draft class. The criteria will be players who have started 20 plus times this season.

Jameer Nelson and Delonte West are going to be all-stars eventually, and Duhon is better than Ben Gordon. . . Smush is doing well but . . . and are Telfair's stats bad?

    I added Telfair for comparison.

Jameer Nelson and Delonte West as all stars??? You know how hard it is to be a all star?? Even a good point guard like Mike Bibby hasn't been an all star yet and you think Nelson and West have a chance?? No Way

The only reason that it seems that Smush is keeping up with the rest of these players is because you didn't consider defense. All those players are way better than Smush in defense. Even though Smush has those quick hands, his opponents often out-smart him, making him go for a steal while his opponent drives in to draw a foul or shoot a layup. Smush also has Kobe to distract the defense, so he has some open shots, while none of the other players have a good superstar.

Paul Pierce is a superstar and so is Dwight Howard.

Are all those player way better than Smush? I know Smush got the better of Delonte in the last matchup against Boston.

Duhon is definitely better than Smush on defense.

I think Smush has the potential to be better than any of those players on defense. Both Telfair and Nelson are always going to be undersized. Smush is more athletic than Duhon, and I think he has quicker hands than West.

Right now Smush suffers on defense when his offense isn't going for him. He needs to improve his mental approach and the Lakers have the right coaching staff to help him progress.

You guys are right. Smush may get steals but he suffers on defense. The Lakers organization need to work on him. I forgot who said it but tie his arms behind his back and then play defense in training camp. His offense isn't THAT bad as you guys are saying. He has a 3, and he can get inside. He needs to work on his jumper, and D. Then we have a starter.

Also I agree with you guys about Jameer and Delonte [IMG]
