I don't think it was smacking, it's more like slapping. If the Kings weren't winning the game, I think Artest might have sent Bowen into a colma.
Bowen is the NBA's cheapest and dirtiest player, and he never gets called for hacks or slaps because of his reputation, and the fact that refs are scared of Pop. He's not misunderstood at all. He's a dirty player who attempts to injure other stars, and everyone knows it.

what's misunderstood that he plays dirty basketball? Cause he does. There isn't a lot to understand cause all he does is shoot threes and play dirty defenese.

Agreed. One of the teams should get a big bruiser who doesn't play at all to take a fine and suspension and just knock the crap out of Bruce. See how dirty he still is after that.
