Last year it was announced about May 4, but can't find any sort of calendar for this years awards.

Anyone know for sure when exactly they will announce Chris Paul's name?

I don't know, but what does it matter? We already it's going to be Chris Paul.

I don't remeber the exact date, but I think it's sometime in the middle of the playoffs. At halftime of a playoff game, I think. Yeah, Chris Paul's probably gonna be ROY.

This is probably the most anti-climatic Rookie of the Year Award that I can remember.

This year will be April 20th. The writers have the ballots and its announced right after the season ends.

It matters because i had a lot of money on Chris Paul at the amazing odds of 8/1 before the season and want to know when i can collect.

When Pau won it he got 93% of the vote, and when Vince won it he got 96% of the vote. I think TD won it with 97% of the vote too.

If Chris Paul doesn't 100% of the vote, those who went elsewhere need to have their media accreditation withdrawn.

I'm winning enough to take a nice week or two's holiday in May.

    Thankyou Mr. Paul.

I feel you. I thought you just couldn't wait to see him hold up the trophy or something.

    Go get your cake, brother.

Eddie Gottlieb was enshrined in the Hall of Fame on April 20th.
Several times the award has been announced on April 20th.
Eddie Gottlieb was responsible for scheduling each team's 82 game
schedule until he retired. The season ends April 19 this year.
Paul should get all of the first place votes except for a couple of
Canadian sportswriters, a few in the Rocky Mt. region of Utah, one
or two Carolina (Arrgh) biased writers, and maybe one unobjective
New York writer. LeBron is much better this year than last, and a
good argument could have been made for Carmelo or Dwayne Wade in
04-05. I also noticed that sometimes there has been a delay in the
announcement. This could come with the increased number of voters, and
it seems to be for players on playoff teams. New Orleans was a playoff team
until they lost too many players and chemistry to injury. Started with Paul's thumb, West's baby, Vroman's wrist, Snyder's injury, Butler missed some games, J.R. Smith's (a) baby, and Brown's knee tendonitis. 12 losses put them too far behind the Kings. The Hornets made a run, but remember they play in the toughest division in the NBA and had to play the Spurs and Mavericks, the Pistons (not in their div. of course) the Grizz whom they beat,
and the middleweight champs just couldn't go 4 quarters with the heavies.
Getting Paul did not require genius, but the Hornets really need it this year in the offseason. So, with Paul's season ending before April 20. And if the ballots are all in which they probably almost are. Then I think Paul will be announced on Thursday the 20th or maybe Friday the 21st. I can't see the
announcement coming later to a player not in the playoffs as we will see with the MVP award. Paul competes like crazy. It's too bad the odds were only 8-1. He was a lottery guy, but still a not quite 6' man who was not always looking to pad his stats. North Carolina has produced some pretty good players haven't they? Chris Paul, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan (his adopted state),Bob McAdoo, Jerry Stackhouse, Josh Howard, David Thompson, P. J. Tucker, Pete Maravich, Meadowlark Lemon, Phil Ford, Buck Williams, Rodney Rogers (won 6th man award in 2000), Earl Monroe (played in Winston-Salem),
to name some of the greats.

I thought the odds were awesome.

Being an Australian bookmaker i knew Bogut would be under the odds, but i still expected CP3 to be about 4/1.

    They had Bogut at 6/1
    Deron Williams at 7/1
    Paul and Garcia at 8/1

I launched at those odds with every cent i had, i thought they were amazing odds for a guy i considered the best of good things.

I had a bookie in Jr. High and won $ 5.00 on a Kentucky Colonels game. Since then, I stick to poker with a few buds. Gambling's highs are great but the lows tough. Wish I could afford to bet, but with a family it's too fast of a ride. You are going to win a nice stake. And you're right because the ROY will almost always be a lottery pick. I thought that with Paul's size, the team he was going to play with, his preference to driving into the trees over taking
the 3-pointer, that he would have been a longer shot. I knew he had a tremendous amount of desire and heart and super speed, but his rebounding, assists and leadership, not to mention his defense are what you look for in an All-Star starter. Great choice. I still think within 2 days of the end of the Hornets' season it will be announced.

I got a reply from a pretty well known NBA journalist and former player i emailed.
He said there is no date listed on his schedule, but he expects it to be announced when the first round of playoffs is done.
