Chris Paul logged his second triple double in 3 days (went for 17, 11, 16 and 6).

Who was the last rookie to log two triple doubles? I know LeBron didn't get one until his second season.

Perhaps it was either Jason Kidd or Magic Johnson.

im pretty sure it was oscar robertson. in his rookie season he almost averaged a triple double so im predicting he had way more than two triple doubles.

Well he said last rookie to do it, so I'm assuming he'd want one closer than the 60's. Maybe Grant Hill or Larry Bird, who knows.

Magic went for 18 7 and 7 in his rookie year so i'm guessing he had a few triple doubles.

Here's just a few recent players that got triple doubles as a rookie. Maybe more.

Kirk Hinrich had 1 triple double as a rookie.
    Hinrich's Rookie season

Lamar Odom had 3 triple doubles as a rooke.
    Odom's Rookie season

Steve Francis had 1 triple-double as a rookie (1/27), and several near triple-doubles. Damn, 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 14 assists. Now THAT's a triple double!
    Francis's Rookie season

Antoine Walker had 2 back to back triple doubles in April as a rookie.
    Walker's rookie season

Jason Kidd had 4 (if I'm counting correctly), all in April. He had several near triple doubles throughout the season.
    Kidd's Rookie season

Grant Hill had 1 triple-double as a rookie.
    Hill's Rookie season

    Thanks durvasa.

So basically there's been three guys in the past 15 years to get at least two.

    Interesting stuff.

Doesn't look like he's gotten one yet. Several close triple doubles, including a game where he got double digits rebounds and assists, but not points.

Just noticed Antoine Walker did it as well. Back to back in April. There could be someone else I'm missing.

Also suprising is how jordan had more consecutive triple doubles than magic ever did.

Its surprising how a rookie whos class is so bad that it makes him look like an allstar.

Chris Paul is a good point gaurd and will make all star games, but he isnt someone that is so great that he will set records and become one of the best point gaurds to play the game

Chris Paul's numbers speak for themselves, as good as any rookie PG of the last 25 years.
Raymond Felton has also almost matched Paul's numbers since starting.

    Oh, and you're a knobend.

In terms of PER, Chris Paul isn't just good relative to his class. He's one of the best rookies in the history of the league.

In fact, only two guards in league history have had a higher PER in their rookie regular season. You may have heard of them -- Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson.
