<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Noah could declare himself eligible for the draft but, if he doesn't sign with an agent, he can withdraw his name before June 18 and return to school. The NBA draft is June 28.

The impact on Toronto ? if president and general manager Bryan Colangelo doesn't trade his first-round pick ? will be significant if Noah decides to forgo his final two years of college.

Depending on the results of May's NBA draft lottery, the Raptors will be choosing about fifth and several scouts say Noah would be a top three or four selection if he decides to come out.

That would knock a player down to Toronto that wouldn't have been there if Noah stays in school and Colangelo might be dissuaded from trading if he knows he can get the player he wants in the draft.

Many league and basketball sources think Colangelo has great interest in 7-foot forward Andrea Bargnani and he's precisely the kind of prospect who could fall out of the top four if Noah enters the draft.

Texas's LaMarcus Aldridge, Connecticut's Rudy Gay and Gonzaga's Adam Morrison are thought to be the top three prospects.

    Toronto Star</div>

If we could only fast-forward through the rest of the season and the playoffs, so we can see what exactly is going to happen!!! I love Bryan already.

I don't want Bagnani. If we keep the pick, I want somebody who can be an instant impact kind of guy (Brandon Roy). Plus, we got CV at SF, Bosh at PF, where's Bargnani going to fit? He won't play center, and neither will Bosh and Villanueva.

I think in all the hype of March Madness, people are forgetting that Bargnani should be considered one of the top 3 prospects this year. I don't necessarily think we should keep him, but our pick would carry a lot more value if teams knew that they could get him with it.

It's a strategy. The Raps can use the top 5 pick for a trade + possibly a draft pick that will have us pick higher and since Bargnani will probably end up higher in the 1st round, it gets us a chance to pick him and acquire someone with the pick we just traded for.

Bargnani is the only prospect that I havn't seen play. Therefore I can't come up with an informed response to Colangelo' interest. But from the sounds of him, but we do draft him, that means BC is building this team exactly like the Phoenix Suns were size doesn't matter.

I would draft him, if he is the best player on the board when (if) we draft. Look at Detroit and Milicic, they didn't NEEEED another post player in the draft and there ended up being better players after the fact, but he was an asset that allowed them some flexibility to trade for something that helped them later on down the road. They drafted someone (like bagnarnuts) that will always be desirable by other teams. I think we should follow this policy. Also if we want to be a running team like Phoenix that doesn't care about defense and tries to score their way to victory (we're half way there seeing as we have no defense!) then pick up bags and have a long, tall, but weakish frontcourt of Bags, Bosh, and Charlie that could score more than R.Kelly at a preschool. Could also then call it the BBC line.

The difference is, the Pistons didn't have any holes in their starting 5. The Raptors do and improving the bench wouldnt be a bad idea.

This should not surprise anyone, because Colangelo is very knowledgeble about International players and isn't caught up in the bad experiences of other teams.

The fact Bargnani is playing at his age and producing overseas is very impressive. The philosophy on the rotations is completely different in International basketball. Often teams your minutes are based on seniority, and you have to be an exceptional player to take away minutes froma a veteran. Bargnani is an exceptional player, and Colangelo wouldn't be making a mistake drafting him ahead of anyone else.

However, I also wouldn't be surprised Colangelo is setting up a smoke screen by linking himselt to Bargnani. Every GM in the league is well aware of Colangelo's track record and he can definitely use it to his advantage by speaking highly of one player, so the player he actually wants falls to him at #5.

Are you saying Colangelo is trying to make it seem like he has very high interest in Joakim Noah, so that other GM's will take notice and so there's more chance of us drafting Bargie or is Colangelo making it seem like he's interested in Bargie and Noah; and maybe there's another player that he might be going for...?

I'm saying it's all of the above, which is the genius behind it. He's not tipping his hand on who he wants, he's just throwing out a couple of possible scenarios.

Its great to finally follow a GM that actually starts all of these tactics, instead of falling for them.

Well hopefully he drafts an Amare Stoudemire.. Lol not exactly Amare but Nobody even heard of him in the draft... and he was definately the sleeper/best player.. So if the BC can pull it off.. it would be amazing.

Hey PAP why does everything have to be exactly literal...obviously I know that it isn't the exact same situation as in Detroit, but that wasn't even my point. My point was you take the best player out there regardless of what you need, etc and that player will always be an asset for you regardless of whether you need them on the floor or not. And to touch on what you said, who in the draft in your opinion could help plug our holes immediately? If you said no one then I'd agree with you, and everyone has blasted Babcock for drafting Hoffa b/c of need so why would we "plug holes" like you said we need to do? I don't agree with drafting for a need. I would draft the BPA.

Well If you consider that drafting for Best Player Available.. Look @ the Atlanta Hawks this season.. They drafted Marvin Williams who was the "best" player available. However if they drafted that need for the PG in Chris Paul instead, where would they be now? probably close to or in the playoffs. So you got to consider all facts and situations to determine what to do with the draft pick.

Bargnani looks like a nice player from what I've read about him, I wouldnt mind seeing the raptors draft him and play him at the 5 or him at 4 and Bosh at 5. But I think if we could somehow end up with Joakim Noah we would be set for our frontcourt for years to come, we'd have three very talented bigs and we'd have our veteran backcourt of Mike James and Mo Peterson, I think we could actually get around 5th seed in this east if this were to happen.

actually Chris Paul was the best player available....Marvin Williams had the most potential. Remember how everyone was shocked when they picked him over Paul?

and now for something..completely different. nbadraft.net has a good article right now called 3 rules to the draft...not a bad read...would have to agree with it for the most part. good read

I have my doubts with Noah- he reminds me of Tyson Chandler. He played awesome with the Gators, but can he dominate at his position in the NBA? We already have Bosh, who looks like a kid among men out there. The thing about Noah that I really like is that he has charisma and is a winner. However, I think the Raps need a real center.
