many were hoping webber would be the 2nd superstar of the sixers to compliment AI. when webber was traded to the sixers, we were said to be contenders of the east. well, things havent happened that way and here is why. webber is not the player he used to. he is slow, fragile, and weak. the guy is soft. sure, he puts up good numbers every game, but most of his points come from jump shots. the guy doesnt bang in the paint, he is way too soft. he has a good hook shot and has moves in the post area, but instead he mostly chooses to shot the ball.

the guy is also horrible on defense. he cant guard anyone one on one and must need help to contain them. he is too weak and fragile, like i have said. he is soft and doesnt battle for the rebounds. he is one of the most anti clutch players i have ever seen. face it. the AI and webber duo will never work, and AI will never have a "partner" as long as he is in philly

While I agree with the offense quote on him, I just think thats a bit harsh. His career is on its last leg and it won't be long til he retires. I mean considering the fact that he has bad knees, and is "older" than most of the guys on the team I think he is okay.

No partner in Philly? Iverson is starting to get close to Iguodala and trusting him more though I think that Iggy should get out and develop on a better team since he is better than that. Also Webber is averaging 20 with AI.

I hate to tell you this but Webber has done his job. The main reason why the 76ers got Webber was to be a second option to Allen Iverson, amd help him with the scoring load.

You don't think King didn't know Webber shot jumpers a lot, you don't think we knew Webber didn't play defense. Hell while you are singling out Webber on defense the rest of the guys are almost equally bad. He does shoot a lot, but hey he is averaging 20 and 10 and I'm not complaining.

What are you talking about? The AI and Webber duo has went well. So how can it not work? How many times has someone averaged 20 points a game beside AI? The problem is not OFFENSE, its defense!!! And you can't single anyone out because as a team the 76ers play pathetic defense.

It is what it is, Webber isn't done. But what he is doing right now is what the 76ers expected from him.

Yes I agree fully. Not mant can say they have 20 and 10, plus he is doing it next to AI.

yeah, i know. i may have been a bit too harsh on him, and singling him out. but the thing is, i dont think webber will ever be good enough to be able to pair up with AI to win a championship. the guy doesnt do what he is supposed to do as a power forward. he shoots way too many jumpers and is obviously very soft and bad on defense. i agree i shouldnt have singled him out, and we have much more problems than just cwebb, but im just frustrated right now. the trade obviously didnt live up to my expectations. i never thought we would win a championship with AI, but i also never thought we would be endangered of missing the playoffs.

It is true that Webber is averaging 20 and 10, proving he can still hit the boards this stage in his career. Unfortuantely, he is shooting only 43% from the field, worse than Iverson! That's something I would complain about - a power forward shooting 43%, I mean people complain about Jermaine O'Neal shooting 45%.

I think Iverson and Webber should give more shots to Igoudala and encourage him to step up and take some of the scoring pressures off the duo. Salmons and Korver should be able to help, too.

the reason webber's shooting percentage is so low is because he always settle for jump shots. if he would play in the paint more, his percentage would be a lot higher. i know he has the moves, but for some reason he just likes to shoot the ball.

You shouldn't be mad at Webber, look who he replaced? Were they bangers inside either? No. Kenny Thomas took a lot of jumpers as well.

yeah, i know. like i have said, i was too harsh on webber. my bad. but what kenny thomas does is he rebounds and does the dirty work. also, he shoots 45% from the field when he was with us. dont get me wrong. i still would have done the trade with webber, but what pisses me off is that the guy has a lot of post moves, but he tends to just shoot jumpers. but i guess you cant really take my words with much meaning since ive only seen, what, 3 games the whole season?

Sixers dont need anyone to score points or shoot a high %... scoring points is not a problem for them. Sixers problem is on defence, they just cant defend and they give up waay to many lay ups... i really think there coach mo.check is the problem coz they have alot of talent on there team...
Webber,Iverson,Iguodala,Korver,Salmons,Dalembert and hunter... i think thats more then enough to win... look at Milwaukee and Washington.. Do they have better talent??? ima Rockets fan and i would love to have any of these players on my team
and 70% of the teams would love to have Webber on there team...

its Coaching problem... they need to learn how to play defence as ateam.

you arent going to have much defense if you have a team of dalembert, hunter, korver, salmons, and webber. we are sort of like the phoenix suns of last season IMO. we have a lot of good offensive players on our team, and the way we win is not with our defense, but with outscoring the opposing team. the only problem is that most of our players give 0% effort on D, unlike phoenix

I'm not in the mood to read the entire thread, so I'll just drop my two cents in here real quickly.

Webber has done his job this season. Webber and Iverson are the highest scoring duo in the league, and AI/Webber/Iguodala are the highest scoring trio in the league. Is Webber the right partner for AI to lead this team to the Finals? Nope, I don't think so, but he is the only option available at this point, unless we can somehow manage to trade him to Minnesota for KG, which is unlikely.

This team's problem is defense, and it isn't all on Webber. Although sometimes he does use his knee as an excuse not to play defense, the rest of the team doesn't play defense either.

Offensively, we just need Iguodala to be more aggressive. I remember reading something a few days ago about him. A reporter asked why he isn't aggressive enough, and he said something to the extent of "my role is to defend, and to defer to AI and CWebb." That clearly needs to change.

The season's outcome rests on tonight's game. We lose, and we are completely out of the playoff picture. We win, and we have a shot at making the playoffs... not that it matters because the 8th seed will be demolished by Detroit.

i totally agree with you... but u cant blame webber for that. he's old and they knew he had a bad knee wen they 1st got him. its the GM fault and mo.check... alot of teams are intersted in most of these players... why didnt he make any moves??? Iverson is a keeper there is no question about that... Iguodala is the future of this team and Webber is better then 75% of all the PF in league...thoes 3 players can score more then enough for u... everyone else should be in the market and Sixers should be looking for Defensive minded players

I didn't even bother reading this thread. All I'm saying is that Webber not Iverson is the MAIN problem. The real problem is the young guys around him. Hunter fumbles the ball all the time, Dalembert is lazy and plays good when he wants to, one day Iguodala is dropping 20 next game he is scoring 2 points, Salmons think he's Jordan, Korver gives it his all but sometimes it's not enough and we actually rely on Michael Bradley. For the most part Iverson and Webber are solid together, it's just the guys around them. Their too young and hasn't come into their own yet. If guys like Dalembert, Korver, Salmons and Iggy were 5-7 year vets and they were more established and seasoned and knew their role we would be up there with MIA and Detroit in my opinion. This team is talented it's just that their is a lot of in consistency and things of that nature. Remeber when Kobe and Shaq won the rings they had solid, vet guys around them that knew their job like Fisher, Fox, Horry, Harper, Grant and so forth. Initially I thought just Webber and AI would be enough but obviously I was wrong.
