    Jon Barry rejoining the Rockets...

    ...as a new broadcaster!

Former Rockets guard Jon Barry, who was told as an eighth grader doing a sportscast for a speech class that he should go into broadcasting, finally will.

Barry, who retired as a player last month, will join the Rockets' television broadcasts for the season's last four games. Barry will work with Bill Worrell and Clyde Drexler in the three home games and with Worrell and Matt Bullard in the team's last road game.

"It's something I've been thinking about for a long time," Barry said. "I always thought I could talk about the game better than I could play it, so we'll see."

Barry played 14 seasons for seven teams, averaging 5.7 points and 2.2 assists per game. The Rockets released Barry on March 1 so that he could sign with another team and still be eligible to be on a postseason roster, but he chose to retire.

Barry said he has had preliminary talks with representatives with ESPN and TNT, but that he has no agreements to join the playoff coverage for either network.

"(Working with the Rockets' broadcasts) is a great opportunity to have a tape," Barry said. "Any time you want to get into broadcasting, people want to know if you can do it or not. I'm very thankful to the Rockets for letting me have a chance to do this. I'm looking forward to it. It will be interesting to see Jeff ( Van Gundy) when ( David) Wesley steps out of the layup line to slap me in the back of the head.

"The biggest thing I want to do is not state the obvious, but to point out the things most fans will not recognize, find things in there that go unnoticed. There's a lot of little things that Jeff teaches that are very important, things I tried to do in my career."

The Rockets are stupid for not bringing Calvin Murphy back!! The games lack excitement, and niether Bullard or Drexler are half as funny and knowledgable as Murphy.

Agreed. Murph was the man, and him and Worrell were an excellent combo...

JB didn't impress me his first game...he seemed reluctant and didn't really offer too much insight, which disappointed me...hopefully he becomes more comfortable and such so we can get true insight...

Hopefully he can string sentences together better than he can hit shots consecutively. Lol , j/k but it should be good for both him and......the fans? lol
