Let's see what our chances really are. Our records: Overall: Orlando 32-44 Conference: Orlando 21-26 Records of importance: Overall: Indiana 36-40 Chicago 35-41 Philadelphia 35-41 Conference: Indiana: 20-27 Chicago: 24-22 Philadelphia: 19-27 To get a spot via Indiana, we must have Indiana lose 5 of their final 6 games, and we must win all of our games. We have a game against Indiana coming up. Indiana has a game against New York tomorrow, who improbably beat Indiana just a few days ago. Unfortunately, Indiana owns the tiebreaker at as they won on Nov. 2nd, 90-78, and Mar. 13, 97-83, and we only have 3 games with them total this season. Indiana lost to Detroit today, but have relatively easy games against New York, Boston, Minnesota, Charlotte, and Toronto upcoming. They'll get a couple to save their spot. It sucks we can't tie with them because there are only 3 games this season, because we have a better conference record at this point. To get that eighth spot of which Chicago holds a tie with Philly. We need to win 3 more games than Philly, who have a relatively difficult upcoming schedule. We currently have a 2-1 advantage in head to head, and if we lose to Philly in the game we have upcoming, we have the better conference record (by two games) at this point. Assuming we hold that, we only need to finish in a tie with Philadelphia. We need four more wins than Chicago to win it without a tie, meaning they must go 2-4 or 1-5 and we must go 6-0 or 5-1. All of their final games are against Eastern conference teams, and we have one against a western team: the Spurs. So if we have to lose one, it needs to be the Spurs, but if that happens we need Chicago to lose all but 1 game, but not the one against us. As of right now they have 3 games better a conference record than they do, so they should have the tiebreaker, even if we beat them in the upcoming game. The odds are really against us. Tiebreakers: 1) Head-to-head (2) Conference Record (3) vs. Teams ultimately at-or-over .500 (4) Head-to-Head cumulative point differential (5) vCoin toss (tied teams listed alphabetically above) Also, Boston is 32-45, a half game behind us. We need them to keep sucking, but I don't think that will be a problem.
Thanks for the update. I still don't like our chances too much, but with the way we have been playing who knows what could happen.
Awesome post, Chuck. Thanks for breaking it down. At this point I'm just crossing my fingers, saying a Hail Mary, and waiting for this whole thing to play out.
Thanks Tonight: Magic vs Hawks Sixers vs Wizards Knicks vs Pacers GO ORLANDO AND WASHINGTON AND NEW YORK
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chuck:</div><div class="quote_post">Orlando, Washington, and New York all won. </div> You mean Indy and Philly all won, so we didn't gain any ground on anyone. Our slim chances just got much slimmer, although as long as we take care of our business and beat Philly, Chicago, and Indy, then we are only 2 games behind with 4 to go.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise4Ever:</div><div class="quote_post">I dunno I would rather like a pick than getting creamed in the playoffs by Detroit.....</div> Playoff experience would be invaluable to these guys right now. Even if we get swept, that will set us up for next year, when we will make a run at the playoffs and getting past the 1st round.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise4Ever:</div><div class="quote_post">True.....</div> That and with our draft history other than at #1 makes me much rather try for the playoffs then worry about getting around 5-9 pick.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hustler:</div><div class="quote_post">Lol, didn't you guys beat Detroit?</div> Yes we did but things would be much different if we had to play them in the playoffs. Richard Hamilton would play, Ben Wallace wouldn't refuse to enter the game, Rasheed Wallace would have played more than 26 minutes, and finally, it would be a seven game series so we wouldn't have a chance to get lucky.
Nice run by the Magic to get back in the hunt. What has been the main reason for the team turning the corner?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">Nice run by the Magic to get back in the hunt. What has been the main reason for the team turning the corner?</div> probably because guys like dwight, jameer, and keyon have stepped up. anyways, the sixers are starting to get a few wins in a row with the abscence of webber. but when webber comes back, i expect the team to start falling again
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">Nice run by the Magic to get back in the hunt. If you look at the games, we are extremely balanced, most games no on egets more than 16-17 shots and we have 5-6 people with at least 8-9 shots. We are really starting to remind me of the Gators in our unselfish play and we don't have any cancers in the lockerroom. We have been shooting an amazing FG% the last couple of weeks(not really sure how much though)

I know Jameer and Dwight are, and i think Hedo is.
