<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This is so sad because the 76ers have gone from what appeared to be an Atlantic Division title contender to the equivalent of a reclamation project. <font color=""Red"">This is so sad because Maurice Cheeks looked so sad after Friday's home loss to the Celtics, sitting in the dark after Comcast SportsNet's lights went out at the conclusion of his postgame news conference.</font> This is so sad because we've heard more about keeping the payroll below the NBA's luxury-tax trigger point than about players they might be able to add, or deals they might be able to make. This is so sad because Allen Iverson's 10th season is winding down and the team didn't get closer to being a true contender; it fell farther behind. This is so sad because the one time they went to the Finals in the Iverson era, they did it with defenders and grinders; but we were all fooled into somehow believing what they really needed was more scoring. This is so sad because, despite Saturday's resilient performance, they have so few defenders and grinders. This is so sad because they gave Samuel Dalembert a 6-year, $64 million contract and then botched how they handled his return from an injury. This is so sad because Dalembert, an otherwise joyful young center with remarkable ability as a shot blocker, handled it as badly as they did. This is so sad because they gave Steven Hunter a $16 million contract, then traded him for two second-round draft choices, then had to take him back when the deal fell apart, then made him the starting center, then sent him back to the bench, then needed him to be Saturday's starting power forward. This is so sad because they signed Lee Nailon in the offseason as an off-the-bench scorer, and he ended up getting arrested in a domestic incident. This is so sad because they were unhappy with the attitude and approach of Jim O'Brien, even though he raised their victory total from 33 to 43 in one season, then hired Cheeks - a marvelously popular adopted native son - and now they can't win as many as they did under O'Brien. This is so sad because they - and many of us - didn't see the flaws in this group, and didn't give Cheeks the additional pieces he needed. This is so sad because Cheeks didn't do enough with the pieces he did have. This is so sad because Andre Iguodala, spectacular during the Rookie Challenge and the dunk competition during All-Star Weekend, seems to have momentarily lost that edge. This is so sad because when people talk about Kyle Korver now, they talk about his defensive deficiencies and seeing him on the court for too many minutes. The talk isn't necessarily wrong, but whatever happened to Larry Brown's constant harping on "putting players in a position to succeed?" </div> link: http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/14306497.htm
Alright, I think we need to stop with the depressing articles! This season has been depressing enough. We should only post positive things... like how we shouldn't play Webber!
