Chris Mihm (severe sprain, right ankle) is out.</font> <font color=""Purple"">And then there were four…..With only four games left in the regular season and plenty still on the line, we should be able to maintain our focus tonight. This game has the potential to be much more difficult than it would seem on paper. Golden State is missing their point guard, Baron Davis and have been eliminated from the playoff picture. So why is this a dangerous game? The first reason is that for most of the key Warrior players the pressure is off. They will just come out and play free basketball. It is a whole lot easier to shoot the ball when every shot isn’t do or die. When you combine this with a fierce competitor like Derek Fisher (starting at the point guard position while Davis is out) it keeps the team from devolving into a bad playground group. The other aspect that has kept the Warriors competitive recently is the play of a few young players with something to prove. The first of these young players to take notice of is Ike Diogu. Ike is a rookie from Arizona State who is developing into a low post threat. He missed training camp and the early part of the season so he got off to a little bit of a slow start. He has a lot of moves in the post and might have to be double teamed if he gets it going. He also is a threat in pick and roll situations. Golden State runs a high pick and roll with Diogu setting the screen and rolling hard to the basket. What makes this one more difficult to defend than other teams is that they usually keep Troy Murphy up high. Murphy must be honored as a three point threat so the normal big to big rotation will not work. It puts extra pressure on the point guard to get through the screen. Another young player who is coming on strong lately is rookie Monta Ellis. The Golden State staff sees a bright future for this hard working, offensive minded 6’3” guard. He is an aggressive driver and can hit from three point range – although he is still a streaky shooter at this stage of his career. Will Bynum is another young player the Warriors are taking a look at recently. He is a quick six foot point guard who is very effective in attacking the defense out of pick and roll situations. He prefers to drive hard to the basket and either finish or dish to open shooters. This game is more about our approach and showing up with the right frame of mind from the beginning of the game till the end. Regardless of who suits up for the Warriors (In addition to Davis being out, Jason Richardson and Andris Biedrins are listed as questionable) we need to be the aggressors. Our team pick and roll defense will be tested so we must be on the same page to minimize the effectiveness of this part of Golden State’s game. </font> <font color=""Purple"">Nobody in a Golden State Warriors uniform can stop Bryant one-on-one, but a J-Rich/Dunleavy double-team will do just that. Montgomery knows Odom is passive, and that he may not be a threat against the Warriors, so this needs to change immediately. Odom should attack the weak side, while having Kobe to his right, waiting to hit an easy jumper or drive hard to the rim. If Parker can keep Baron away from Bryant, and if Lamar can draw some attention from his defenders, Kobe will run these guys to death, and the Lakers will win this game, 102-96.</font> </div>
nice preview empra. i really think the lakers will take this one if both richardson and davis are out. i see no way the lakers will lose, and if they do, there will be some question about their attitudes and detirmination. its good to see fisher again, he was one of my favorite lakers. who knows? maybe we can get him back? all i know is that on the GS forum, people dont speak to kindly on him. PS - does anyone know if FSN will show the game on prime ticket again? it was great last night

The Warriors are playing tonight so they will be weary. This should be a statement game for the Lakers. I say we come out of the gates early and blow the wind out of the Warriors.
Here's highlights of the previous 3 meetings this season. 14th Jan 06 27th Jan 06 3rd March 06 We won all 3 games, but none of them were by under ten points. If you check the highlights out, there are a few occasions where our big guys bully theirs. Expect Kwame to go for something like 14/12. I even notice that most of our points came from mid range jumpshots. We can't rely on that and we need to drive more, perhaps giving Kwame a bigger workload on the offense. I predict a 108-96 victory to The Lakers.
Laker_Fan is a YouTube addict. LOL The Warriors are dangerous team this time of the year. They always have a knack for playing spoiler and the Lakers cannot take this team lightly. Last year the Warriors beat the Kings and prevented them from winning the Pacific Division. The Warriors have nothing to lose at this point in the year, so they will be loose and would love to beat the Lakers at Staples. The Lakers have to come out with intensity and establish control of tempo. They cannot get caught up in the Warriors helter skelter style of hoops, and give Golden State any hope of winning this game. The Lakers should establish Kwame and Smush early on to get them focused because these two seem to coast against the weaker teams in the league. Get them involved and get their energy level up so they play tough defense. I want the Lakers to win every single game the rest of the way. We need to beat out the Kings for the 7th seed.

I expect us to get a win, shouldn't be a problem. and nice sig Empra but, all laker sigs are tite. did you make it?
According to SFGate.com the Warriors are going to be playing their rookies the majority of the minutes the rest of the way. This should make the game easier for the Lakers, but we better not be complacent tonight. JRich will be a game time decision for the Warriors.

I miss him too! I can still picture Bruce Bowens reaction to the shot while he was chewing his gum it was fun. Since the Mavericks will knock off the Spurs, I say kobe takes matters into his own hands in the WCF lol
hey the sacs are tied with the lakers and theyre versing the suns today so i pretty much think they will lose but the damn suns better win this one for the lakers
what a game. First, Sacramento was beating the Suns by 17 at the half, the SUNS come back and WIN by 13, unbelievable. This has been by far the most exciting/funnest Lakers game to watch all year (except the Kobe 81 and Dallas game) It has been the most overall complete game, where every single Laker has came through and contributed. Kobe playing amazing, Lamar playing amazing, Kwame coming through big time. I love these kinds of games.
I hope that bruised shin will wear off soon....cause if he plays his 2nd half like the rest of the season...then yeah....worries me
Watching Odom tonight is the reason why i am "iffy" if we have to deal him in order to get KG. Odom was just a monster everywhere.
<font color=""Red"">Caution:</font> Don not by any means try to trade Lamar Odom! Brian I love your sig! Go Eagles!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting YourNewChef:</div><div class="quote_post">Watching Odom tonight is the reason why i am "iffy" if we have to deal him in order to get KG. Odom was just a monster everywhere.</div> Man Odom IS a monster. He's 6'10 and moves around like a point guard. It's scary for the opponents when he gets his game going. I'd say he's just missed out on around 15 triple doubles since joining The Lakers.
i was actually worried at first. the lakers started out slow and the warriors offense was hitting at all cylinders. but luckily they cooled off and the lakers started to slow down and make their shots. another great game by kobe, odom, what can i say? great job on you first triple double as a laker! and kwame brown, in the first half gets a triple double. the guy is a beast and im glad he is finally using his potential to the max. the good thing is is that the guy will only get better. it is a good day in laker land, lakers win, kings lose. we are now the 7th seed! yes! the only negative thing about last night was bynum. the guy seemed lost and didnt do much of anything. but thats expected given that he spent, like what, the last month on the bench? PS: thanks empra. your sig looks great too! the eagles D will be beastly next season!
Man- Kwame is a BEAST. 15 rebounds? That is such a HUGE boost for the team, I really hope he keeps up his good play because he could give any big man trouble in the playoffs
Why cant Odom play like this every game? I wouldnt even mention the word Garnett if Odom plays the way he played last night. On second thought. I would but u know what I mean.
