Yes, I agree. We should be able to get him. He'll be a host bust in ticket sales if you ask me and wins.

That would be very nice but it wont happen, the rockets wont go after any big names... alot of teams gonna go after Peja and offer him more money then us...

Last year alot of free agents liked the rockets coz they looked pretty good and the took less money coz they want to win but this year its a different story... free agents would rather play for teams like the lakers or orlando who are getting better and can offer them more money

Why does everyone keep talking about acquiring a SF (whether its Peja, Rashard, or Morrison), as if McGrady will be able to handle the SG position next season? When our key weakness this season has been lack of quickness guarding the perimeter, it makes no sense to move McGrady (a natural SF) to SG. He clearly doesn't have the same quickness he used to.

i agree 100% with you... BUT houston will be lucky if T-Mac plays 70+ games next year.

We keep T-Mac at the 3 and put Peja at 2, and I agree we could use more quickness but I think a bigger problem is size, we are simply too small at almost all our guard positions(Except maybe Bogans)and Peja just two years ago was one of the best if not the best shooter in the game.

I think that it would be very nice if we got rid of Wesley's 5 mil contract, and Howards 6.9 mil dollar contract in order to sign Peja and drafted a role PF in the 2nd and an athletic SG that can guard the perimeter and slash to or dunk on the basket in the 1st possibly Brewer or Foye.

I really think it would be nice to have Peja's scoring ability from the 3 pt line on this team. He could be that much needed second option say if Yao or T-Mac get injured next season.

That's also a good point, we need more scorers!! Dallas is deep they bring Stackhouse off the bech and he can drop 30 same with SA and Finley. The Rockets look terrible on offense when Yao is not in, and even when he makes the outlet pass we can't knock down a shot.

we dont need any more stars on the team... we have 2 very good players. inside and outside... now we need to surround them with good ROLE player who can defend and hit open shoots. Thats all is in to it...
look at kobe and shaq... they surrounded them by Fisher, Fox and Horry they all good defenders and shotters.

You don't seriously think playing Peja at 2-guard is a viable option over the course of a season. Can you imagine him chasing the likes of Kobe, Ray, Wade, and Redd around the court?

Our problems in the backcourt are both size AND quickness. Other than Luther, we don't have a particularly quick backcourt despite being severely undersized. Both aspects need to be fixed. Bringing in Peja or drafting Morrison would exacerbate the quickness problem. It's simply not going to happen.

You'd have to put him in the starting lineup alongside McGrady (you're not going to pay him all that money to come off the bench, right?), forcing one of the two to have to guard the opposing SG. That simply won't work.

    Dallas= Nowitzki(26.5),Terry(17.3),Howard(15.8)
    San Antonio=T.Parker(19.1),T.Duncan(18.6),M Ginobili(15.1)
And I haven't even looked at Detroit, you need a third scorer in case one of your big two go down.

Well we went in this season with Wesley, I see your point but Peja would be a BIG upgrade at the 2. And in all fairness who actually can stay with Kobe, wade,Allen. I just keep having flashbacks of Wesley being posted up by Stackhouse.

Aside from acquiring a good player from the draft, resigning Bogans would be the Rockets top priority this offseason as he has the ability to play both shooting guard and small forward position. JVG also like his defensive game. It would be nice to have Peja but like Durvasa has pointed out, it won't happen. Besides Peja will be a liability on defense.

No to Bogans. He's just not athletic enough. I think he is a possibility if another player or 2 that can play the 2 or 3 is picked up. I think C.Hayes is the imediate need to resign thats on the team.

Draft Roby who is still my pick. True 2 guard, good shot, great midrange game, and can jump out the gym.
Sign Qyntel Woods can handle the ball, decent shooter and can fly too
Two moves not out of the question or over the top. I think that is a major upgrade
Cassell is a big hope of mine that comes here to finish his career but we'll see.
Under contract next year + my picks

    Skip Sura Head
    Roby Head Woods
    TMac Woods
    Howard Swift Hayes
    Yao Deke

You make a good point about his defense, but in the end its more of a positive simply because he stretches the defense way out. I know Peja can play PF against the smaller ones, like Scott Padgett. Teams can no longer use their PF to double Yao/McGrady (which they do all the time to Juwan...and he misses his wide open 15 footers).

If T-Mac does have injury problems next season then Peja should take his spot. If he does not go through many injuries and feels good/can handle playing SG, then why not sign Peja.

Win win situation when you bring in any great shooter to the Rockets. Something we definately need.

Actually, Wesley shut him down that series. The only reason why you're thinking that is because Stackhouse shot over him like three times in a row, but all the other times Wesley stopped him defensively. I've debated this so many times before, but the stats prove it.

Anyway, we don't need Peja. He's going to be overpaid, he's not that great defensively, and we can get someone like him for a lot cheaper. A lot of players stretch the defense, and they aren't injury prone either. You've got Jumaine Jones, James Posey, Qyntel Woods (kinda), and Bonzi Wells. In addition, one of the big reasons why our team has done so poorly (other than injuries) this season has been penetration. With Wesley having dropped considerably quickness wise, Sura's absence, and Alston's defensive deficiencies, our teams' quicker guards have been easily driving into the lane and scoring on us through easily layups or floaters. What can we do? Not get Peja and get some players that patches up the situation. The big thing we need to factor into signing free agents is defense. Find players that actually can taylor their game to Van Gundy's instead of the coach having to change his system for a couple players.

No way in hell do we acquire peja. I wouldn't even give him the MLE if he would take it. When he was in sacramento they were the worst d team in the league and part of that is because of his one dimensional shooting. He can scoerer and somewhat dribble but he is not what we need. We need players who can make plays under pressure we are going for the championship not regular season wins. He is the most unclutch player ever. He threw a three off of the side of the backboard at the playoffs one year in the last seconds. He can't make plays under pressure when thats the kind of players we need. That is also the reasons why getting JJ Reddick scares me though he improved his conditioning and defensive ability he doesn't seem to be able to play big in big games.

Peja doesn't even guard threes well. Why would he suffice at the two? Having TMac and Peja would only increase penetration for the offense, leading to more fouls for Yao. Wesley, defensively, is much better at guarding the perimeter, and his position is always spot on. Peja has also stated that he wants to remain a Pacer, and is opting out of his contract solely to cash in on a new deal. The MLE won't be what he's looking for.
