<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The argument could be made that if the Wolves are going to trade Kevin Garnett, they should do it before next season starts. His value probably will never be higher, given that he's not getting any younger. And the Wolves should feel a sense of urgency because they could be losing ground in a Western Conference loaded with young teams. If Garnett goes on the market, teams would line up to acquire him. Garnett is averaging 21.8 points and is leading the NBA in rebounding average (12.7) while shooting a career-best 52.6 percent from the field. A nine-time all-star and the league's most valuable player in 2003-04, he still commands respect. Where might Garnett go if the team decides to cut ties? The Lakers, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls are among the teams reportedly interested. The Lakers are an obvious possibility because <font color=""Purple"">Garnett owns a home in Malibu, Calif., and spends his summers there.</font> He would seem to make the Lakers instant contenders in the Western Conference if paired with Kobe Bryant. <font color=""Red"">Lamar Odom</font>, center <font color=""red"">Chris Mihm</font> and point guard <font color=""red"">Smush Parker</font>, <font color=""red"">plus the Lakers' first-round draft pick this season, might be a start.</font></div> If this trade isn't good enough to get KG, I dont know what is. I mean trading Odom (potential all-star next season), Mihm (solid big man), and Smush(playground legend) and this years first-round draft pick, our lineup would be something like this: Sasha Kobe Luke Garnett Kwame Come on Mitch!
Another 1st rounder is probably needed if they aren't going to throw in a player that Minnesota can build around.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post">I doubt we'll trade Odom, I hear the management love his game.</div> Keep Odom and Kobe bring in KG trade the whole team plus Jerry buss
Don't trade Odom, maybe Bynum but don't trade Odom. If mitcb pulls this off without trading Odom he's forgiven for the Shaq deal.
I like the team we have now. They're all so young (Besides Kobe), and can mature so much more if we keep them together. If we don't give up Kobe, Odom, Kwame, and Bynum though, I'm for it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ace:</div><div class="quote_post">If we don't give up Kobe, Odom, Kwame, and Bynum though, I'm for it.</div> this is KG we're talking about. i think in order to get him we will have to trade away kwame, bynum, or odom, because a lot of other teams may be willing to give bigger deals than us. we cant just trade some scrubs and a pick for KG, remember, the wolves dont have mitch as their gm.
If you look at the salary cap situation, Odom is going to need to be involved to get the deal done. I don't think it's going to be a straight up trade if KG is dealt. I think it's going to involve at least 3 teams.
To tell u the truth, I dont say how KG will be a Laker unless he says he wants to play for the Lakers. But we can all hope hope and hope. Like Ice Cube said on Quiet Frankly... " Come on KG... Come on..."
I like Odom alot, but for KG? Done deal. He guarantees points, rebounds, blocks, and intensity. There are no "IFs"
Odom + Mihm + Smush for KG .. I do this deal without any second thoughts. Then I'd go out and recruit Sam Cassell over from the Clippers and sign Marcus Banks and bring back LaRon Profit. PG - Cassell / Banks / Sasha SG - Kobe / Profit SF - KG / Walton PF - Turiaf / Cook C - Brown / Bynum
Pull the Trigger Mitch! two all stars and future legends in their PRIME! DO IT NOW! Forget the 2008 season!
KG and Brown would complement eachother perfectly in the front-court, but the Lakers would be extremely thin all-around. What about Odom, Mihm, Bynum and Parker and possibly a 1st rounder for KG, Hassell and a throw-in. Then if you went out and got Banks in FA: pg-Banks/Sasha sg-Kobe/Profit sf-Hassell/Walton/Cook pf-KG/Turiaf/Cook C-Brown/Bynum I don't see how the Lakers can pry Cassell from LAC, but this is a very strong line-up filled with players who will complement eachother perfectly. However, they are still not very deep, and if someone goes down it would be a huge problem. I don't know too much about their draft situation, but your biggest holes are at back-up C/Pf and back-up pg. IMO opinion you should go after Josh Boone (defensive big guy) or Jordan Farmar if he commits.

J/K Cassell and KG are very close, and he'd be the starter for the Lakers. Shaun Livingston will likely take over the starting role next year for the Clippers. But the main draw is playing with KG again. I really don't want to give up Bynum and Mihm to get KG. The Lakers have to keep one of them, preferably Bynum. The Lakers are already thin this season, and are just an injury away to Kobe or Odom from being in a bad situation. So it's not much of risk to go after KG and lose some depth in the process. Josh Boone will be a bust in the NBA. Jordan Farmar won't commit unless he knows he's getting selected in the lottery. I'd love having Hassell thrown into the deal, he'd be the answer at SF for the Lakers and give them another defender on the floor. I just don't think the Lakers can go wrong with Kobe-KG as their cornerstones and building the team from there.
^ yeah, there definetly is a depth issue, but we will just have to hope everyone stays healthy. also, if we do pry cassel from the clippers, which IMO can be possible, we can split our MLE on different veteran players for depth. hopefully mitch wont be stupid and waste it on bums like mckie and divacs. anyways, how do we pry cassel from the clippers? simple. we can just do what we did to get malone and payton. we can tell him to come play with kobe and KG and make a final run for the nba championships.

Unfortunately, I don't see the Lakers prying away KG unless they deal Bynum, because the Wolves are rebuilding, and I really don't think they'd consider Parker and Mihm too valuable. I can see the Wolves giving up Haslem, because they got Davis, Hudson and McCants to fill the 2 and 3 spots, but they'll probably want a 1st rounder in addition to Odom, Parker and Bynum. So the Lakers keep Mihm to solidify their back-up centre spot. So the question is what will they have to give up to pry away Cassell? I disagree with you about Boone. He's very raw on offense, but he's a tough-nosed player who will put forth 100% and get you rebounds and solidify your fron-court. They don't need a scorer if they're getting KG. If Farmar doesn't commit, then I believe Rondo or Marcus Williams would also be solid pgs to back-up Cassell or Banks.
