    Yao Out For the Season

Yao injured his left foot (X-rays showed it was broken) against the Jazz. He's done for this season.

Good. I'd rather he just stop playing now, heal and rest it over the summer (hopefully this means he doesn't have to play for China), and then come back next season strong.

I haven't been able to watch the game but how did he do it? Rolled it? Well at least it's the end of the year and you weren't going anywhere....

He stepped on Deron Williams foot as he was turning into the lane for the fadeaway (which he made [IMG][IMG]. That's where he broke it.

yes baby lampe and hayes will get more mins, and more chance of loosing.. Do yall think we can win a game from now till the end of the season.
Yao had messed up his foot and now messed it up again. mac had messed his back up and did it again. will this same thing happen again next year? IF it does it will be a repeat of this year and i'll be mad. its good that he now gets to wait and rest for next season. But him and mac both better be a 100% perfeclty healthy next year if we wanna get past the first round..

Look I'm all for the Rockets get a good pick, but I'm really disgusted by how everyone is hoping that the Rockets lose.

    It's just not right.

I can't believe this has happened. McGrady and Yao both going down like this. Hopefully he comes back as strong as he did.

    Foot fractures and big men.

That spells trouble, especially when you're the biggest in the NBA.

The break was actually caused by a kick to the side of his foot by Okur.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SALT LAKE CITY -- Houston Rockets center Yao Ming broke his left foot when another player stepped on it late in the first quarter against Utah on Monday night.

With four games remaining and the Rockets out of the playoff race, Yao is almost certainly done for the season, although he planned to get the foot looked at again Tuesday.

"Maybe it's the best thing for me and when I come back I'll be stronger," Yao said while wearing a protective boot in the locker room after the Rockets' 85-83 loss to the Jazz.

"Tomorrow, I'll go see a doctor in Houston, so I can't say anything before that."

The Chinese star said Utah's Mehmet Okur kicked him on the side of the foot, but he tried to play through the pain for a few minutes before it became too much.

Utah's Andrei Kirilenko appeared to step on the same foot while the two were under the basket. Yao got the offensive rebound and converted the three-point play after Kirilenko was called for a foul.

After making the layup, Yao bent down and rubbed his left foot before going to the line with 4:35 left in the first quarter. He came out with 3:51 left in the period and went to the locker room.

Yao said he hadn't seen the video yet, but thought it was Okur who kicked him on the side of the foot.

"It was a fight for position," Yao said. "It happens on the court."</div>

    Thanks for the empathy.

Anyway, how bad can this season get? Basically every single player on the team was injured or out at some point (McGrady, Yao, DA, Swift, Sura, Barry, Alston). We better get a great draft pick.

Yao didn't look too concerned. If I remember correctly, he limped himself out of the court, he didn't even need anyone to hold him.

If we get a bust in the draft and injuries continue to plague us, well...maybe I'll turn into a Heat fan...

I agree...I have no respect for any team that loses on purpose just for a greater draft pick...honestly, no player in this year's draft will have a drastic impact upon next year's team anyway...

It is a Houston thing. Remember this past Texans season everyone was rooting for the 49ers in the final game just so we could have the guarenteed #1 pick?

I personally don't see anything wrong with it. We are not going to the playoffs so might as well hope we suck it up and get a good pick. If we were going to make the playoffs or be borderline I would be rooting for the Rockets in every game they played in.
