<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Leaving home is so hard. Probably the only way to deal with it is to put it out of your mind. That's the route Los Angeles Lakers forward Devean George, a free agent at the end of this season, is taking. "I'm trying not to think about that," George told the Los Angeles Times. "That's just part of the business. But this could be the last month. There has been some great times -- ups, downs, a lot of fun times, championships, eyes burning from champagne, cigar smoke." The reality is, after spending all seven of his seasons in Los Angeles, there's a very real chance George will not be wearing a Lakers jersey next season. He hasn't panned out as the team expected when they signed him to a four-year deal worth about $20 million. He entered Tuesday's game with just five starts in 67 games, averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 21.9 minutes. There is a chance the Lakers will re-sign him, but it would likely have to be for considerably less money. The Lakers were in this position before and chose not to give point guard Derek Fisher, who was much more key a contributor, the money he wanted. So it figures if George wants to make close to the $5 million he gets for this season it will have to be with another team. "Right now, (the Lakers) is the only thing I know," George told the Times. "I've never been on another team. Then again, I don't know what's available. I'm just going to finish the season, talk to my agent and see what the deal is." </div> link: http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctime...rs/14323106.htm dont know about you, but i actually want george back. he is the only player left on this team besides kobe that was there for the three peat. it would be sad for him to go, but i would only resign him for the right money
George sucks. I'll be glad to see him gone. He makes me so mad. Hops around needlessly every chance he gets. Then lands uncontrollably into opposing players and gets fouls all over the place. Have you ever seen a guy in perfect position for a rebound and not get the rebound because he's coming down rather than up more times than George? Maybe if he resisted the urge to bounce all over the place at the first chance he can he will find himself able to put those hops to good use. He can't seem to hold on to the ball if his life depended on it. He can't turn around or go up for a shot attempt half the time without the ball just bulleting out of his hand and into the cheerleaders sitting on the sidelines. Except for the rare occurance, when has George ever played well when the team needed it? He seems to play great when the team is on the whole playing well. You know he'll sink that 3 when we're going on a 10-0 run to take a 8 point lead and extend it to 11. But what about when that 11 point lead shrinks to 5 then 2? He'll brick the shot and that's only if the ball doesn't launch himself from that rocketlauncher he calls a chest. I can't wait to see this guy go.

I loved George since day 1 as a Laker and I'll continue to support him. I just hope he resigns with the Lakers.

Are we forgeting that George has been one of the teams better defenders this year? DG has been a favorite of mine since he was drafted and if he leaves I'll continue to be a fan of his. I don't know why the Lakers signed him for so much back then though. He seems to have a great rapport with Kobe and everyone else on the team, so I think most would be sad to see him go. Doesnt seem like that much of a money guy either, so I can see him living with a pay cut.
I wouldn't resign him for much. He is a good player and knows the system well, etc. etc. but 20 mil? The guy has been overpriced..... I like him and think he is a great assest and whoever said he sucks when it counts really needs to watch the games he plays when he DIDN'T come back from injury. I remember the Lakers @ Heat christmas game when he sunk 2 3's in a row to get the Lakers by 2.
Devean is one of the best defenders and role players since he came to the Lakers. He is one of the reason why the Lakers one three Championships in a row. The reason he got pay so much is because the Lakers management tought he would be an offensive player next to Kobe but injuries have kept him from that. Devean will take a paycut and stay with the Lakers.

And one game 4 months ago does not make a good player. Remember that one season he started off strong for the first 10 or so games, then disappeared for the rest of the season? So I guess he's had at least 10 great games. Let's keep him! Playing great for 10 games at the beginning of a season and playing like he normally does for the rest of the season and post season is not even close to being good enough. Horry infuriated me with his play too back in the day. The difference? He always showed up in the playoffs, when it counted. Not saying he had the right to slack off the rest of the year, but at least you knew he was gonna play when you needed. I've watched a lot of his games. I watch almost every laker game. so i don't know what you define as a game that he came back from an injury and one that he didn't. cause i've seen plenty and back from injury or not he still stinks up the place. Phil Jackson and Tex Winter know the Triangle very well, probably better than George. I wouldn't want them playing. Doesnt' matter if you know the triangle or not if you can't play worth a damn.
