On Comcast Sportsnite, Billy King said that a deal that would've sent Larry Hughes for T-Mac and a pick was close to being done. [IMG]

At one point Allen Iverson was almost sent to the Clippers too. This was like when he was in his third or fourth year. It talks about it in Iverson's biography and the only reason the deal didn't go through was because one of the fillers failed a physical.

Probably Toronto pulled out of the deal cause Orlando sucked much more than the Sixers back then and the pick they would've recieved would've been (and was) much higher.

About AI trade: AI was gonna be traded but Geiger didn't want to take a 15% paycut so the trade crashed down

I heard Croce would'nt approve the deal, and that was the reason it didn't go through.

i dont know whats stupider, the fact that BK did not get the deal done, or him going on TV and publicly saying we could have had t-mac for hughes. doesnt he already know nobody in the sixers fanbase likes him? then why go out and say some crap like that? just goes to show how stupid he is

I think in the biography Croce confronts AI and tells him that he is being shipped out. Pat Croce was very high on Iverson but he thought the deal would benefit the team. Then Geiger's contract clause along with his bad knees made the deal fall through.

Exactly, Croce told AI he was gone, but it had something to do with Geiger and his contract.

Anyway, I have found even more new hate for Mr.Queen.

Come back to reality for a minute. Back then, T-Mac was nowhere near the player he is now. Think about it.

They said Toronto backed out because it became publically known before they wanted it to. Stupid excuse, there has to be another reason.

It's just crazy when you think "what could have been." Imagine if Iverson and McGrady were on the same team? Who know's where Toronto would be if Vince and Tracy stayed on the same team.

The Sixers could have had a lot of good players, but their front office is stupid. Hell, look at all the solid players we passed up in the drafts after Iverson was drafted. Then go ahead and look at all the young players Larry Brown gave up on too early (Hughes being a prime example)... but hey, I can't blame Larry too much. Atleast he led us to the Finals, what has BK done for us besides raise Burger King's stock?

good point bigmo. if you are going to bring in the "what could have been," than also add what could have the sixers been if they drafted pierce instead of hughes. what could have been if the sixers didnt draft shawn bradley, but chris webber instead. there are a lot of stuff that this organization has done that makes you look back and just shake your head. but you just have to realize that this is the present and not the past. you cant change what happened in the past

I remember CSN talking about guys we could have had in previous drafts. Wasn't Dirk and Pierce just a few to name?
