Who do you think is the best power forward in the NBA? Right now I'd have to go with Nowitzki or Brand.
I'd definitely agree with Elton Brand and after KG, I think Bosh is up there. Next season, his game will be complete and will be maybe 2nd on the list.
It's Tim Duncan, this PF has 3 rings under his belt, enough say. Wait...I'm interesting in seeing you guys ranking the top 10 PF in the league, including potential/accomplishment/talent level/skill level/age wise/effectiveness/etc... My list will be: 1. Chris Webber The guy I feel bad listing at #10 is Chris Webber. I believe he is a top 5 if it wasn't for the injury he received a couple year ago.
This season, Elton Brand with Dirk and KG not far behind. When everyone's healthy and having a good season though Duncan, KG, and Stoudamire are probably above Brand and Dirk though. Jermaine O'Neal Most probably don't agree with Brand above Dirk but I just love Brand's game; great post player, shot blocker, rebounder, and leader. Relentless on the offensive boards and hes got a ton of heart, he is the quitessence of the ideal PF. I can't stand players (especially 7 footers) flopping like crazy but Dirk is still a very good PF, I just like Brand better.

This season: 1a) Elton Brnad 1b) Dirk Nowitzki 3) Kevin Garnett 4) Tim Duncan 5) Pau Gasol Duncan dropped off offensively, but still had a huge presence on defense and on the glass. Since the thread starter said "right now". When all healthy, and not taking into high account this seasons records 1) Tim Duncan 2) Kevin Garnett 3) Dirk Nowitzki 4) Elton Brand 5) Pau Gasol 6) Amare Stoudemire 7) Jermaine O'neal 8) Chris Bosh 9) Dwight Howard 10) Rasheed Wallace Jermaine O'neal is an interesting case, a lot of people rank him high because Indiana has been a good team. The problem I have is that in the last 2 seasons even with all the problems they've had, they've won more without him than with him. That's embarassing. It's even arguable by Indiana fans if he was there best player when Artest was there. He's not a great first option guy because he's inefficient for a PF shooting in the ~46% range, he's a weak passer, and he has a high turnover rate. He is a good defender and shot blocker though. With Peja, JO should concentrate on anchoring the defense and rebounding, allow Peja to be the #1 option, and let the offense come to him. He'll go down a little in PPG, but he'll be a lot more efficient, and he needs to stop thinking his jumper is great because it's not. Amare also, a lot of people want to rank him high because of last season, but outside of scoring, he's not better than most of the other guys above him at anything. All are better passers, defenders, shot blockers, and playmakers. Brand is down 1.2 PPG and 2.8% FG in comparison to Amare last season, on a team not as good offensively, and is a superior defender, shot blocker, passer, and rebounder, yet because Amare rocks the rim, people will take him. Till I see how Amare returns from injury, I also can't rank him on how he would've improves. Best Power Forward in the NBA would mean right now, so even with that, I'm assuming he'd be as good as he was last year still if he came back healthy. Pau Gasol is also an underatted guy. He's improved a lot defensively, is a good scorer [20 PPG], can rebound, second best passer and playmaker [4.6 APG] after KG among the top guys [Webber is better], and he also blocks shots, and wins games even when people don't expect him to.
not just this season but overall including this year with all the other years of their careers, I'd have to say Kevin Garnett. Even though Duncan won more MVP's i'd still say Garnett. he averages more rebounds, points, and assists<< better efficiency!.. go garnett.. Even though he had a bad season.
I don't know how you can pick Duncan for this season -- in the here and now he has dropped off immensely. Garnett? I can't get past the fact that he's way too passive offensively night in and night out. It's damaged the Wolves a great many times, and is the gigantic elephant in the room when discussing Garnett's play and career. I think I agree with Pippen, frankly. Something else that's interesting in all this is the misnomer of the POWER Forward position in today's NBA. Except for Amare to some extent (though he drastically needs to improve his post game, regardless), this position is not played with physical force by any of these players. Growing up on guys like Mail and Sir Charles, this is disappointing in the extreme. The position, like the league itself, IMO, has become soft with the transition to this new generation. I wanna see a frontcourt player that plays with true physical force -- and there isn't anybody playing right now that comes to mind at the PF position in relation to sich a word. With Shaq declining, there might not be a single player in the entire league to take this role in a year or two -- that's assuming there's anybody at all that fits such a description right now, which I'm not sure of considering Shaq's aforementioned drop and the intrinsic betrayal of his body in relation to that (from game to game, Shaq's getting to the point where you wonder who wants the contact less: him or his oppenent).

And I picked Sheed over Webber because sheed has 1 title. And Sheed is a better defensive player than Webber. And I picked Dirk over Webber because I really like how Dirk is carrying his team this year. Its nothing against Webber. I think Webber is a fabulous player. It was a tough choice to make.

Webber despite being on far superior teams talent wise, never went farther than KG in the playoffs. KG is easily over Webber in terms of career, there's 0 argument. Webber is also easily over Rasheed who never did much before he can to Detroit, and in Detroit he's not been a star, just on of the guys.
