Peja is a free agent and wants to come to LA to join his old friend Vlade. I think he would be a great replacement for George and add a consistent outside shot that the Lakers desperately need. He would cost nothing but money and if the Lakers add a legit Power Forward/Center they could contend with what they have.[IMG]

Do you have a source? This is great if he's willing to come off the bench for some outside shooting.

I am pretty sure he will be a Laker. No sources.

I don't see any forseeable way we could get a good big man AND get Peja.

The only decent big men out there are Kenyon Martin (who we don't want) and Carlos Boozer. Without trading Odom or Kwame that leaves us to trade Andrew Bynum and Chris Mihm and perhaps Devean George in a sign and trade.

By doing that are payroll is going to be too high we'll have no money to Sign Peja. I don't see us having the money to sign Peja anyways...

If Peja really want's to be with Vlade, I'm sure he'll take a pay cut. I'd be willing to take him for 5 million. I can't really see him fitting into our squad. He'll bring great outside shooting but he play's in the same position as Lamar. I think Lamar make's up alot of the player's beside's Kobe. His unselfishess really helps their games.

wow again, another Peja thread. C'com guys, dont be a fool, Peja won't play here. We all knew we killed his teams a couple years ago in Western Conference Final, that cut right through his heart. No chance. His wife wants him to be in Sacramento so I think he already said he would take less money to play for the Kings again. [IMG]

A lot of sport agents use the Lakers to up their price tag. By opting out, Peja is turning down $8.2M in guaranteed money. I don't think he's worth more than 7 to 8 a season at this point in his career.

I wouldn't even give him 7. I think he's worth about $6.5. He won't change the face of the Lakers, unless we aquire a dominant big man or Kwame becomes one.

I think anything above 5 million for Peja is bad for us. The reason for this is that he'll be a bench player playing a maximum of twenty minutes. He'll have to take 5 million or less to be on the squad. Firstly, I don't think he'll sacrifice that large some of money and secondly, I don't think he'll come off the bench and play a maximum of twenty minutes.

I thought Peja was set on going to chicago. They have money to offer and alot of fellow eastern euro's in the city. Didnt Vlade retire? How would the Lakers actually acquire Peja? Sounds like ANOTHER pipe dream.

Vlade was hired as an International scout for the Lakers after he retired.

The two ways the Lakers could acquire Peja would be ...

    1) Sign him for the entire MLE
    2) Sign & trade with Indiana

i think you guys are undervaluing Peja... at 7 million a year I'd DEFINATELY take him. at the current market price you have Qrich, Cuttino mobley, Bobby simmons, and others going for higher and can you really say you'd rather have them? We are paying devean george around 5-6 mil a year right? [IMG] but seriously Peja's shooting wouldn't be bad for the drive/dish capabilities of Kobe/Smush AND Odom.

None of this really matters though because I'm sure he's gonna get a better contract than 7 million. Maybe around 10?

Peja's a good player but if Larry gave up Ron to get him, Im thinkin' he might be more valuable to the Pacers than we think. Unless Danny Granger emerges to be twice as good as he already is next season I dont see Peja leaving through free agency. Im really high on Danny Granger so I still see a slim chance of this happening. He would be a real good backup but he's hitting his prime right now and I dont think he wants to be a backup, two to three years down the road he would be cheap to get but I dont think at this point he will be.

I am starting to think what the Lakers did to the Kings didnt cut through Pejas heart but it cut yours. I mean why else would you always be negative about him playing for LA. And coming off the bench? WTF... Odom is gonna play PF where I still think he has an advantage over slower PFs.
