<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The difference between putting up good numbers and great numbers can be as simple as getting one more layup per game to fall. The difference between being selected as an All-Star or not can be connecting on one more 3-pointer than usual.

That's how Lamar Odom has rationalized things during his two seasons with the Lakers, often when the criticism of his play has grown loudest. His job is to fill up the box score, and Odom has been sensational more nights than not recently.

Odom's numbers arguably have been the best of his career in the second half of the season. He is averaging 16.8 points, 9.1rebounds and 5.6 assists since the All-Star break, shooting 53.8 percent overall and 45.6 percent from 3-point range.

For comparison's sake, Odom averaged 17.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 45.3 percent shooting when he was named Eastern Conference player of the month with the Miami Heat in March 2004.

"We all know of his potential," Kobe Bryant said. "We all know he can be a great player. It's just a matter of him being on a team where we all embrace him and believe in his abilities. That's what he has here."

Odom followed his 23-point, 15-rebound game Sunday against the Clippers with his first triple-double in 141 games since coming to the Lakers two nights later against Golden State.

"He's beautiful to watch going to the basket making these moves he's been making the last few games," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. </div>

I thought Kobe was the beautiful...oh wait...Kobe is crazy sexy....good job Lamar..you are officially the second sexiest man on the team...sorry Sasha...ok anyways back to basketball....Lamar is fun to watch...he has so much to do on the court it's crazy..he has to rebound, score, AND pass...now he is embracing that role and embracing it beautifully..

I knew Phil Jackson and the Lakers would be the greatest thing ever to happen to Lamar Odom. The guy can be unstoppable if he wants to be. I think Odom is closer to that level of killer instinct that Pippen had accompaning Jordan.
Dime magazine once wondered if Odom was this generation's Derrick Coleman. I would love to see Odom prove that writer wrong.

This is what I dont understand about some so called "laker fans" True fans follow the team regardless of record and have faith that they will turn it up when it counts. As far as Im concerned, Im rooting for my Lakers to take out the suns. I believe we can do it to. next season is a long way away. Lets work with what we got here.

    well...then here it comes...[IMG]

You guys giving Odom too much credit for his recent play. The guy is earning 10Mil/year, he should've play like this earlier, not just a short sketch. But he's a great player when his game is on. Problem is I have a feeling the guy doesn't win big on a big stage. There are several games that we're playing against good teams with the playoff position on the line, and Odom seems to disappear or makes some silly mistake that cause the team the "W". From what I see right now, Odom is improving in defense and start playing aggressively which is why his game is on the rise. But I don't think we will win "Big" with Odom. [IMG] He just doesn’t have that killer instinct or the swagger to kill his opponent deeper when they're down. Guys like Kobe, Lebron, KG, even Artest, and all great players...have this type of instinct in their game. When these guys’ game isn’t on, they’ll do other things to benefit their team and produce a “W” at the end. I just don’t see this in Odom, well as of right now.

The way Odom has evolved as a player has been fun to watch as a laker fan. He's drives in aggressively and looks to shoot more. Keep it up Odom

Odom did hit that buzzer beater for U of Rhode Island in the NCAA tournament a while ago. I do understand that was in the NCAA though.
I think Odom only can get better even if he has stretches where he seems to falter. If Lamar works out with Kobe and adopts Kobe's work ethic this summer, I see nothing but upside for Lamar.

Nothing really wrong about what he said there. There's a thing called reality and even though I'm rooting for the Lakers to beat the Suns, it's most likely they won't. I have faith, but I still have common sense [IMG]

the only way they can beat the suns in a 7 game series is if Kwame turns into a monster or Phil figures out a way to make the lakers try 200% harder on defense... the lakers don't have the guns to beat the suns in a shootout

The way you beat the Suns is punishing their small unit in the post. The Lakers haven't shown all their cards to Phoenix yet, and have been experimenting different strategies against them in the 3 games they've played.

In all 3 games, the Lakers have played the Suns on the second of a back to back. This has given the Suns a huge edge, because of the uptempo they play and the lack of preparation.

However, if you've been paying attention to the Lakers the last few games, someone is being used in the post a lot more, and that is Odom.

If the Lakers face Phoenix Odom is going to be the force on the inside putting pressure on the Suns defense.
