Because of yao's injury to the foot when Danny Fortson stepped on it, Yao's feet have a two different size. When fortson stepped on it, an infection was discovered. The surgery was so invasive that Yao's left foot became a size 17, while his other foot is size 18. It's funny how you have to wear two different shoes while playing. I feel sorry for him because one of his feet is bigger than the other. That just seems weird.
The surgery performed reduced the size of the foot. I read it somewhere last week. They removed something that was infected and it decreased his feet size.
You know for someone 7'6" yao doesn;t have very big feet. karl malone was 6'9" and had size 18 feet also. and shaq is 7'1" and wears size 22's.
Most people have one foot longer than the other. My right foot is a half size bigger than my left foot. If you compare a size 9 with a size 10, there really isn't much difference, so I doubt Yao feels any diffence. The problem for Yao is going to be the foot he just broke. All the weight his weight have to endure from basketball is going to constantly push the limits of the foot breaking again. These kind of foot injuries really effect big men and they're never the same afterwards. Rik Smits, Brad Daugherty, Big Z, Bill Walton, Shaq O'neal, all these guys had foot problems and never came back the same after surgery.

Or one of your shoes are kind of tight while the other is loose? Well that's kind of weird and messed up. I hope yao this injury affects Yao in a positive way! Because after the first injury on his foot, when he came back, he played like a monster.. I hope he can do that again!. Come back from the second injury and play supergood!
