Tim Rattay has been traded to the Bucs for undiclosed draft picks.

Looks like 49ers QB Alex Smith is in for tough year, they have to stick with him now.

Comments? Who will start for the Bucs, I'll say Simms for sure.

It appears to be a conditional 6th.

Simms is the man in Tampa now.

I'm guessing he'll be on a short leash, though. Gruden was high on him when he drafted him, but it didn't take long for him to change his mind.

Gotta be Sims. No QB could learn a new system in less than 1 week.

Sims for 2 games and then Rattay for the rest. Bucs go 10-6

Which every backup plays, i think they are gonna have a lot of help by Cadillac and Joey Galloway and Micheal Clayton. But defenses are gonna walk up and defend the run, so cadillac shouldnt get as many yards. Its kinda like when Losman was playing and McGahee couldnt do anything because the defenses played everything on McGahee

I was watching NFL Total Access and they said that Rattay will be the third string.

Who is second if Rattay is 3rd? I dont see how that would work. Rattay could challenge for a starting spot there

Simms will start the rest of the seasons and be the starter next year as well.

I dont think Jon Gruden has any trust in Chris Simms, if he did he wouldnt have gotten Rattay. Simms might look good against 49ers this week, but i think once he starts losing there will be a QB carosel

Jon Gruden has had a man crush on Chirs Simms since they drafted him. The Bucs needed a QB now that Griese is out for the year and Rattay was probably the best choice. The 49ers had 4 QB's on thier roster. Alex Smith,Ken Dorsey, and Cody Picket along with Tim Rattay. One of them was going to be traded. Now the Bucs have 3 QB's. Simms and a good backup. Simms is the guy this year. He was probably going to be the starter next year no matter what according to ESPN's Chris Mortenson.

The real test will come when the bucs play the panthers in week 9. I dont think he is gonna stand up to the panthers. Then he has to play Washington, Atlanta, Chicago. Those games are is a stretch of really hard defenses that he has to play after the 49ers game. I think Tim Rattay will get a shot sometime this year
