<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheGreatK-Bob:</div><div class="quote_post">Would you want that veteran to start or are you sold on West?</div> I think West should start, definetly
why not............................. Hey why not trade of the pick for some help at the 5. Maybe put together a package for KG? Or even take the best player in the drafty when our pick comes up???
well you're proposing 2 very different things there. they can either trade the pick or use it. I feel like KG wont accept a trade to the Celtics or anyone who isnt a sure contender. I do like the idea though of using the pick as part of a package for a big man but it would have do be a damn good big man
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker15:</div><div class="quote_post">The thing is besides Aldridge and Sene who will be a project, here are not to many legitimate big men in this years class. So a PG like Foye would be good for the Celtics.</div> That's not true at all. In the later stages of the first round alone you've got tons of legit big men like Paul Davis, Aaron Gray, Oleksiy Pecherov, Hilton Armstrong, and hometown favorite Craig Smith. None of them are #7 pick caliber players, but neither is Josh Boone by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, he's probably staring at the second round. If you want to talk about big men who have a chance of going #7, how about Cedric Simmons from North Carolina State, or my favorite, Patrick O'Bryant from Bradley; the kid's even got a Celtic name. Then of course, there's always Shelden "The Rapist" Williams. If I were the Celtics, I'd go with a point guard, not necessarily as a replacement for West but just to give them some depth in the backcourt. Laptop seems the most logical pick, but if Ainge is looking for more of a scoring punch from his 1-guard, then Foye would be equally logical.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Rarely do I ever visit this site anymore, but I just found myself scanning the page for the antecedent to "Laptop". Then I was like "Laptop? Who the hell is that? If anyone they should take Marcus Wi....Oooooooh."
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LAKERSKB8:</div><div class="quote_post">Either a SG or a SF....Brandon Roy possibly or Rodney Carney</div> That's the exact opposite of what the Celtics need. Think for a second.. why would we need to add another off-guard into our system? Paul Pierce and Wally will be around for a while, not to mention Gerald Green and Tony Allen are starting to get minutes. I think the Celtics would only take a 2 or a 3 if someone unbelievable fell to them who could be an eventual upgrade over Pierce. However, what we need now is either a) someone who can consistently defend on the perimeter; a big man who can play defense without getting in foul trouble or c) a point guard who can set others up and score on their own. Sorry I don't mean to point your post out as bad or anything, which isn't what I'm doing, I just think you should either let us know why you think the Celtics would draft those players or atleast think about where they would fit in to our lineup.
Why do we need a pg who can score on his own or set others up? Delonte has exceeded even Ainge's ridiculous expectations IMO.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheGreatK-Bob:</div><div class="quote_post">Why do we need a pg who can score on his own or set others up? Delonte has exceeded even Ainge's ridiculous expectations IMO.</div> There are a few intangible things that I judge point guards on, and Delonte (although being a great player) fails to meet some of them: 1. Fluidity of play - Take a look at guards like Andre Miller or Sam Cassell who play with ease and fluidity. Delonte has a boxy/geometric style of play at times and looks uncomfortable on the court. 2. Speed of play - Guys like Steve Nash, a younger Jason Kidd, Chris Paul ... they all can collect rebounds and turn their board into a counter attack without an outlet pass. This transitional ability is KEY at the point guard position. 3. Ability to be a floor 'general' - A prime example here is Gary Payton. Even in his latter days with the Celtics he managed to be a vocal and positional leader of the team. Some things you just can't teach, and Delonte isn't that kind of leader. Also, we have no reliable backup point on the team... So, if you'd like to have Dickau and Tony Allen playing point next year; by all means, take a small forward.
How the insanely wack have fallen! It's a damn shame to be on a basketball site on the messageboard of a team that's supposed to have some of the smartest, most diehard and dedicated fans just to find that NO ONE HAS POSTED HERE IN 3 DAYS! This is a damn travesty and you all are giving Celtics "fans" a bad name...look around at the other threads. How many of these teams have the history, legend, mystique OR fan fervor that the Celtics do? None! The Knicks had a HORRIBLE year...I bet their fans didn't go three days without posting about them. That's why I bounced.....that and I'd post something and half to wait two or three days for a response. Boston.com cares more about the Celtics than y'all supposed "fans" do! One.
I dont think, from what ive known of them this year, if they really have a glaring weakness so maybe they should draft best available
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting slpnsld23:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont think, from what ive known of them this year, if they really have a glaring weakness so maybe they should draft best available</div>Yeah, that's what I'd like Danny to do if he can't find anything good for the pick. Hopefully we can get lucky and have somebody fall into our laps, like last year with Green.
The Clippers are rumored to be shopping Corey Maggette for a 1st Round Pick. I remember he was mentioned in one of many Paul Pierce rumors last summer. The Celtics are loaded at the wing, but CMaggs could excel in the 6th man role Ricky Davis provided for Boston. Thoughts?
Nah, I don't see the point since we have Tony Allen and Gerald Green who should be able to play that role next year. Maybe we can move Wally for something decent and trade the pick for Maggette.
adding Maggette would give us an awful lot of sg-sf scorer types. those players bring a lot of excitement but not nessecarily a lot of wins
CMaggs in Boston would be pretty sweet on NBA Live, but I think you should keep your pick and get a PG. There's a rumor going around that Ainge is all over Sergio Rodriguez, a J-Will type PG from Spain. He's exactly like J-Will just without the problems. They were saying that Ainge might trade down and get some more picks and take Rodriguez. Another good pick would be, to take Marcus Williams. Marcus Williams is very talented PG out of UConn that can score when needed but is a very talented passer. IMO, if he played the whole year and didn't have the "Laptop problem", he'd be a top 5 lock. I think he has the potential to be the best Lotto player in the draft. Another player that could drop is Rudy Gay, he's got so much talent and potential it isn't even funny. I'm not sure what your needs are, but if he's there I'd take him with no fear of a bust. Who cares if you don't need him, he'd take some time to develop, then you'd be able to trade Paul Pierce down the road somewhere and get something good.
I still dont know. Delonte West has an awful high upside. Any point guard we might draft this year would take some time to develope just like delonte but wed be starting all over. If the celtics are going to get any pg in the off season it seems like a better idea for it to be a veteran
Call me crazy, but I really want to see a big man on this team, but since there aren't any worth a 7 pick, let's go with Roy. I know everyone will call me crazy for that pick, but he's the only one that even could be at that spot that's NBA ready. Foye would be a close approximation, but Foye and Roy are my only two options for this slot, preferably Roy. I know we're loaded at the big two-ideal three spot, but are we really? Green is getting there, Wally is Wally, Pierce is a rock, but that's two players to fill two spots, as Green is not in the regular rotation yet. Two is not enough. Roy can play immediately and that's what we need, no more guesswork with projects. Let's draft for next season this once. I think Ainge knows that as well as anyone, as his good credit for drafts past won't last forever.
