Why the heck did we get rid of Derek Fisher???? I mean, not to take anything away from Smush Parker, but Derek Fisher was GOOD! Imagine our team with Mihm back in the lineup and Fisher as starting PG. If he got the minutes, I think he could score 20 a game.

^ yeah, we gave up fish because of the money he was asking for, not because we didnt want him or anything. the warriors got what they deserved. they over paid big time for fish, and now if you go check out the warriors forum, they arent too happy with him.
From posts the Warriors fans on this forum have posted, and threads they have made Fisher is not looking so good in Golden State.
Fisher isn't that good. He was good as a role player, playing with Shaq in his most dominant years, and Kobe Bryant as one of the best players in the NBA. Not to mention there were times when Roberty Horry played really well, and other players. So you're over-valuing fisher, if that even makes sense.

For once, I think he actually thought before he made a move.
Fisher is asking for too much. Thats what we were thinking. Just like we were thinking that Shaq wanted too much for his age. I just wish Mitch would have thought about taking Wade and Odom in the trade instead of Brian Grant.
The Lakers were moving in a different direction when Fisher became a free agent. Without a low post presence, Fisher's skill set isn't valuable and since the Lakers weren't running the Triangle under Rudy T, and Fisher isn't really a playmaker.
^ Exactly. Remember their second championship where Fisher made 15-20 three pointers during one span starting in the regular season and continuing throughout the playoffs? All (but one) of your great memories of fisher are no doubtedly him spotting up from somewhere behind the arc and hitting a timely 3. Like Shape said, without a dominant post presence (who can pass) Fishers value plummets since he won't (and doesn't) get those open looks. That one memory that I speak of that doesn't involve him spot up shooting is .04 'Nuff said. That right there is worth $37 mil in my book lol.
whatever happened to fish though? i remember all the shots and all the threes he hit as a laker, heck he was one of my favorites at the time. but whenever we play the warriors, he seems to be missing all these open threes and such. has he lost his touch?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">No, he lost Kobe and Shaq</div> Exactly. Just like role players on the Bulls teams, there were a number of players on those LA dynasty teams that made HUGE money from playing with the superstars. It makes them look better than they really are.
well, i understand that, but with shaq and kobe's presence, they lead him for open shots. but now, hes been getting a lot of open looks but his shot just doesnt go in. thats not the d-fish i know

They are trying to use him as a pure PG, but Fisher is not a playmaker and is terrible in an uptempo style of basketball. He needs to be in halfcourt sets, where he becomes a catch and shoot threat, instead of leading a break and pulling up for a 3 pointer.

Fisher is really only valuable if you have a post presence or another guard who is going to dominate the ball alongside him. He can't run a team, let alone a fast break, like a PG should. When Baron Davis is healthy Fisher mostly only plays SG, even when Fisher is playing the PG spot we'll often have Dunleavy facilitate the offense. Smart move by the Lakers to let him walk, he'd be useless without Shaq and the triangle offense.
