These are two very talented players obviously when mcgrady is not injured, but kobe will usually get the edge over t-mac alot because of his rings. What if hyppothetically they had switched places in their careers? if Shaq had tmac as a partner would the lakers still have won 3 rings? and if kobe had like tmac not played with a dominant center for most of his career, would he still be though of as a future hall of famer like he is now?
Obviously things probrably would hav been different. T-Mac would have won three rings with the Lakers and I dont see Kobe winning 3 rings in Toronto or with Orlando. Kobe would still go into the HOF based on his performances. w/o shaq this season alone he solidifyied himself as the best SG in the NBA at this point and shattered enough Laker records to go into the hall after he retires. I think Kobe goes into the hall whether or not he played on those three championship teams or not. Similar to other players who made it into the hall w/o no rings.
Well Kobe would've basically been doing what he's doing now just somewhere else. If T-Mac had Shaq they may have gotten along and would still be winning rings to this day.
I think McGrady would have been more willing to let Shaq be the man, and maybe he wouldn't have put up the numbers he had in Orlando (or even Houston). I think they'd probably have won a few championships, sure. If Kobe was in Toronto who knows what would have happened.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">So are some of you saying tmac is a future hall of famer?</div> Still too young to decide.
How about this: stick Kobe on today's Rockets with Yao. That would be a very scary team. Then again, I'd love to see what Jackson could do with Ming. And of course that brings up its own issue -- separate Phil from the Lakers' bench this season and it's highly questionable as to whether they'd be in the position they're in right now.
Well Tmac would have more rings, but maybe Kobe would've stayed in Toronto. Having him and Vince at SG and SF would've made Toronto easily a Top team in the East for many years. Even when Vince got injured, Kobe would be able to carry them.

At the ASG this year, he pissed off Duncan by saying Big Man is boring to watch. Imagine saying that to SHAQ! chao! If that happens, Kobe will still be going into the Hall of Fame just base on his record breaking performing. It would be easy to break all the Toronto and Orlando record than the Lakers. Plus if Kobe has been the first option, the owner of Toronto or Orlando will put together a great team around Kobe, like Lebron's team now. Why? because Kobe ain't gonna let the owner just sit there in his chair and do nutthing. And with Kobe's desire to win, his will, work ethic, it won't be a problem for the team to be competitive, espeically in the east. Unlike Tmac, he's talent and all but he just doesn't have the swagger and determination that he believes he can win every games. The 19 games losing streak that Tmac suffered in Orlando, Kobe would never let that happen. Trust me! And IF Kobe is currently with the Rockets, he will win a championship with Yao Ming. Kobe's body and condition is way better than Tmac, therefore his career is definitely going to be better than Tmac when all set and done. But though, Tmac might win more rings than Kobe. Then that help Tmac get into the Hall of Fame, so as Kobe.
^ That's stupid, Kobe wouldn't do anything to make the team have better players because he really can't, in the end, it's up to the GM and owner. If the owner sucks, the owner sucks, the Magic had a hockey guy at GM, to say it was Tmac not badgering him that made them have a bad team is stupid. If Tmac hadn't been traded, he'd have Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson, meh...

kobe would of this have been kobe in orlando or toronto but he would not have those rings he has today.
I feel that T-Mac is more complete than Kobe. He can do more on a more consitant basis. His team doesnt just rely on him to soley score points.

Every teams want to be a winner. Maybe not toronto, but Orlando certainly. I don't think a guy like Kobe will let a francise down. Oh btw, Orlando wouldn't trade Tmac without him being asked first .
I guess this season and onwards will give a better indication of who the better player is. If Kobe can consistantly take this team to the playoffs and move past the first round it will prove Kobe is better. I believe Kobe is better for more reasons than the rings but thats a whole other debate.

They both wanted to be the number 1 guy. It definitely would have been disaster in Toronto. It would have been the same situation as Vince Carter and Tracy Mcgrady when they were in Toronto except it would probably have been worse. Kobe or Vince would have got up and walked right out of Toronto just like Tracy Mcgrady did.

Hold on if T-Mac was a laker those years they would have won those championships. Yet i still see T-Mac making Buss make a disicion on him or shaq cause its obvious that shaq is on the downfall. But Kobe would have lead orlando to the playoffs hust like T-mac did. And lost. Just like T-Mac. Its stupid to say that Kobe's competitve attitude would have made orlando get a better team. If hes that competive then why did he let them trade shaq. Cause truthfully the Lakers could have had a good chance at the title last year had they had shaq
