<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">As soon as there was a pause in the Kings' dressing room Sunday night, with a playoff berth finally secured and plenty of hollering, everyone gave it to Shareef Abdur-Rahim. The streak is no longer his burden. The Kings' postseason entry means that Abdur-Rahim's wait for postseason duty is over after 10 years and 742 games. The first-year Kings forward had the longest active streak for games played without reaching the playoffs. His streak is second all-time to Tom Van Arsdale, who logged 12 seasons and 929 games with five teams, ending in 1977, without a postseason contest. "I'm really happy for him," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "I don't know if he understands you get extra money for that, too. That excited him." Said Kings guard Mike Bibby, who was Abdur-Rahim's teammate during some dreadful times in Vancouver: "We're happy for him. He finally gets this off his back. Everyone gave him fives in there." Said Abdur-Rahim: "It feels really good. It was a tough year, with the injury (a broken jaw in December), but we're here. Feels good."</div> Source
Kenny Thomas sure made them better, but I think they would have fallen short of the 8th spot w/o Artest. Artest can now shut down Ginobli or Marion/Diaw if they were to meet either the Spurs or the Suns in the playoffs. Kings have a good chance to make an upset in the first round.
Sup everybody- I'm REALLY happy to see Shareef in the playoffs, I watched him all the time in portland and he's a good guy that deserves to be on a winning team. I think that The Kings actually have a chance to pull of the upset. Simply because you guys are loaded at every position. Bibby will offset Parker, Ron Artest is basically Bruce Bowen except that he can score, Reef will play a few shades under par of Tim Duncan and Brad Miller will help gaurd Duncan as well. The only matchup problem is Genobli and I'm assuming that Artest will gaurd him...
I guess it's 100% now, that Sacramento will play the Spurs. How intergral do you think Shareef will have be in order for Sacramento to have a chance of winning the playoff series vs. the Spurs?
