Hello, my name is Brett and I am GatorsowntheSEC on JBB. Thank you Swish for choosing me to be on Magic Mania #2! I’m a 20 year old sophomore(nearly a junior) at the University of Florida! I was one of the first members at JBB(top 10-I think I was 8th though). I am a huge Magic and Gators fan.(obviously or I wouldn’t be doing this Magic Mania. I love most sports. My favorite teams are in MLB is the Atlanta Braves followed by the Baltimore Orioles(dad’s fav) and Tampa Bay Devil Rays(local team). The Washington Redskins are my favorite football team followed by the Tampa Bay Bucs and Jacksonville Jaguars. When I’m not on JBB, I own a football website that has a message board that is growing rapidly(just got a new skin). So on to the questions! <u>Mr.J</u> -Why is Daryll Hill so much better than Joakim Noah? He isn’t. : ) -How do you feel with the Gator haters despite winning a National Championship? A better question would be to ask the Gator haters how they feel about the Gators winning the National Championship. The haters can hate all they like, but when you look back you will see Florida Gators 2006 National Champs. -Name your favorite song from: Jay-Z, 2pac, Biggie, Monica, Mary J. Blige, and Alicia Keys (and don't back out of it like Swish) I don’t know much about any of them. Not even Jay Z, I know I like some of their stuff, but not sure what songs and stuff. -Who is more to blame: Isiah or Larry Brown? Both. If I had to choose one about this season, I would say Larry Brown, but if it was for the Knicks overall it would definitely be Isiah. I say Brown this year because Larry Brown has the talent and he could have declined the Francis deal if he didn’t want him. I’d blame Isiah for the mess that the Knicks are in overall because he keeps trading all of his expiring contracts for crap and gave up their picks. <u>TwinTowers</u> If you had 1 wish what would it be?(cant be more wishes) I never really thought about it, but I would probably use my one wish to get my dream job(working for ESPN anyway possible). That will help me get rich and then while I’m rich, I will get a really hot wife. Will Noah succeed in the NBA? I think he will be a solid pro, you can’t really go wrong with him since he continues to improve and he can do it all. His only problem is that he doesn’t excel in one thing at all. Also he is a dangerous weapon beating presses and not many NBA teams press much anymore. I do think Corey Brewer and Al Horford will have better pro careers then Noah. Will Dwight Howard average 20 rpg in a season? I seriously doubt it. 20 rebounds is just crazy. I think Dwight’s only had 4 games in 160+ that he has had 20 rebounds in. He is a freak, but I don’t think the Magic’s D will ever be good enough to where we force opposing teams to miss enough shots to where Dwight can get that. I do think that he does have the best chance to do it sometime in his career then any other NBA player right now. The scary part is he’s not really good with rebounding techniques right now, he doesn’t really box out, he just gets rebounds because of his sheer athleticism. <u>Orlandoman</u> -What is the first thing you did when the Gators won the Championship? I watched the game with my friend who lives on campus from my house off campus. So after the game, we let it sink in for 5 mins, then we got in my car and drove to campus to join the championship riot. I had a test the next morning at 8:30am , but stayed out until 4 and got like 2 hours of sleep max and failed the test, but it was worth it. -If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you want to have with you? (Besides food, water, etc.) If there is electricity I would have my computer for sure. I would also bring fireworks to try to get people to see where I am and 3rd I would bring a lot of beer so that as long as I’m stranded I will be drunk and when I get done drinking I can send notes in bottles to try to get people to rescue me. (assuming I’m 21 at the time ) -What do you want to do when you graduate college? I’m a sports management major and my dream has always been to work for ESPN or any other big organization dealing with sports, since that is my #1 hobby for sure. My friends get tired of me busting out useless stats/facts when we watch games and stuff. I just wish I could study for classes like I know all these sports facts. -If you could visit any country, which one would you want to visit and why? I would probably visit Australia. It seems so nice out there and hanging around the beach all the time would be sweet and I’ve always wanted to see a kangaroo in person. <u>Brian</u> how much did you party after the gators won? I had a test at 8:30 am, so I wasn’t able to get drunk, but I stayed out until 4 am during the riot on University Avenue. what would you have done if the gators were up by 2 with 1 second left and jordan farmer from UCLA hit a buzzer beating 3 pointer? I would be staring in shock and asking god why? what are some of your favorite tv shows? Whatever is on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN Ocho, etc. I also love watching Family Guy, Chappelle’s Show, Mind of Mencia, South Park, Futurama, and just other comedy shows like that. what are the top five hottest chicks alive? Jessica Alba for sure. I also like Victoria Silvstedt, Beyonce Knowles, Halle Berry, and the typical airheaded blonde Jessica Simpson. how good are you in basketball? I’m pretty solid. I’ve grown since I didn’t make my HS team senior year. I hit my growth spurt after I graduated for some reason. (went from 5’11 to the 6’4 that I am today). I’ve always been a shooting guard, so I am capable of shooting the 3, but I mainly play downlow unless I am feeling it. I have 0 defense and 0 ups though. My best game ever was 18 pts 6-6 from 3 land 0-1 from 2 pt in a city league. I wasn’t really a scorer. and do you think you can school me? I’m sure I’d school you at least once, but you would probably school me more. - whats the meaning of your user name I used to live by a lot of lakes and there were a lot of Gators in them, which is why I have Gators. They are also my favorite animal. My friends get pissed off at me that I own them in everything, which is why I have own. “The” is my favorite word of all time and I always win the Salami Eating Contest that my hometown has, so that’s what SEC stands for. Seriously though, I go to the University of Florida and the Gators are my favorite team. They have won the SEC(Southeastern conference) 2 years in a row, so they do in fact own the SEC and look to continue it. hamburgers or pizza? I would rather eat them both. I can’t decide, why do you ask such hard questions ? <u>Chuck</u> - What is your religion? I don’t really go to church that much anymore. I used to until I was in 10th grade and then I started working late on Saturday nights and couldn’t get up early enough to go to church. I have been confirmed as a Lutheran though. <u>Swish15</u> Who is your hero in life? My whole family is. They have given me a great situation and have allowed me to succeed in everything that I do. They are always there for me and I don’t think either my dad or my mom have missed one of my games or achievements. They stop everything to come see me. Why should I go to the University of Florida? One because you get to hang out with me(what could be better ) and I got my sources to get to parties. Seriously though you get to watch great sports teams(we have won the SEC all-around title 14 years in a row) and the academics are very good. We have the best academics in the state and one of the better schools in the south. We were rated the #2 best value school in the nation, so it’s very cheap, especially if you do good enough to receive Florida’s bright futures scholarship. It looks very good when you are applying to a job to have a degree from UF. It’s a college town, so it’s not like it’s a huge city where it could be overwhelming. Not to mention that it’s in the state of Florida and there are so many hot girls here. Why do the Gators have so many haters? (Woah, haters and gators rhyme, maybe that's why?) When you win 14 straight all-around SEC titles you are bound to receive hate. When you are as good as the Gators are and are always in the hunt for a National championship you will receive hate. That’s why the Gators have some of the biggest and most amount of rivals as any other school you will find. Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, and now South Carolina and that’s just for football. Kentucky for basketball. We hate each of those schools guts and they hate ours. They are just jealous If you were the Magic GM, what transactions would you try to get done? First I would resign Deshawn Stevenson, then I would probably trade the pick for a proven SG, potentially Mike Miller type player. Then I would try to lock Jameer/Darko/Dwight up long term(only Dwight gets the max, Darko gets like 6-8 mil a year for 6 years and Jameer gets 5-7 mil a year for 5 years). I wouldn’t do much shaking up this offseason honestly because our chemistry has been great lately. The thing I would do the most is burn all records of Andrew Declerq being part of the Orlando Magic. (yes Declerq was a Gator, but he’s soooooooooo horrible) Will any Gators' Big Four end up on the Magic in the next couple of years? The only one that could is SF Corey Brewer, IMO. We don’t really need Joakim Noah or Al Horford, although both of them would be nice and we are loaded at PG, so Taureen Green wouldn’t really be a need. Corey Brewer is kind of like a Trevor Ariza that can shoot. <u>shapecity</u> Where else did you apply for college? First I applied to USF(University of South Florida), then FSU, then UCF(University of Central Florida) and UF. I wanted to go to UF, UCF, FSU, and USF in that order. UF and UCF accepted me under 1 condition, if I went the first summer, so I decided to go to UF and love my decision. Who do you want the Redskins to draft? We have one pick on the first day. LB is one of our biggest needs, so I’m hoping University of Maryland LB D’Qwell Jackson falls all the way to us. He’d be a homegrown kid and he’s proven he can play, I believe he led the nation in tackles last year. With the Magic out of the playoffs, who are you supporting to win it all? Grizzlies #1, Mavs #2. I enjoy watching both of them play, but I won’t be too into the playoffs with NFL draft happening in the next week and MLB. Thanks for the questions guys, I hope you enjoy my answers.
