The man annoyes the livin' piss out of me. Suuuuure he had a career year for us in Toronto, but the man wants all this well deserved respect and wants everything served to him with a silver spoon. Enough already! This team needs to build a franchise with character players and in my opinion Mike James and his "me, me, me" approach will do nothing but deter the growth of younger players like Bosh, CV and Graham.

Anyone disagree or is everyone here on the same page?

Anyhow, here's a laughable quote that I read in today's Toronto Sun.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">
James has a had a career year with the Raptors, averaging 20 points and 5.8 assists per game, and he believes that his numbers only will improve. In fact, the Amityville, N.Y., native boldly predicted that he will be an all-star for the next five years running.

"Yes, I believe that in my heart," he said.

"You give me the team, you give me the players, and I will outplay, or play as well as, any other point guard in the NBA." </div>

All Star my ass. He was an above average player on a shitty team.

He's got this "me against the world" attitude that can get annoying after a while. Especially, since its inevitable that he's going to get his money now. But he still acts like teams don't understand what he's worth or don't respect him.

The guy is not young, he'll slow down eventually, and personally i don't think he gots what it takes to be an allstar.. I think all Toronto fans know that. Even MoPete has a better chance than him.

I haven't liked James since 20 games into the season. Sure, he won a few games for us, but he wore out his welcome by jacking up shot after shot, not to mention his pretty terrible decision-making down the stretch. Sure, his threes and field goal percentage is great, and he can get to the rim, but we have Jose Calderon who I think is way more apt to run this team.

Mike James is 30 years old, I don't think he'll ever been an All-Star even. If Mike was 22 years old and saying all this, then of course it's possible.

Oh no og15, I don't think you understood. What Mike says is the final word. No if's, and's or but's about it. [IMG]

I think he's an awesome player and that the Raptors should get him signed. He helped the Raps a lot this year and next year, he can be that key guy that the Raps need. Yes, his personality sucks and takes bad shots, but were going to lose a guy that scores 20 points for us almost consistently.

On the other hand, I'd also like for the Raps to try and get something out of him if Colangelo does try to make something happen. Trade him now because his value is at its highest and while he's still "young".

Spyware is right, losing Mike James doesn't help us at all as a team unless we get something back in return. Right now, I believe keeping Mike James is best for the team, maybe we should resign him to a contract with incentives. We pay him just a bit more than last year , but if we make the first round of the playoffs, he gets x amount $ in bonus or 2nd round he gets X amount on top of X amount. It would be a good way to make him put his money where his mouth is, I think.

I mean, at least he backs his words up in the court and he has a lot of charisma. I'm actually happy we have a player like Mike James who has that intensity. I think I was sold on him in one of the earliest games he played this season against the Rockets, where he had scuffle against David Wesley, if I remember correctly. The Raps need a player like him out there on the court.

Its the past month or so that really turned me off James for good. Before that I only had minor criticisms and concerns about his game. But lately, especially since Bosh got injured, all he's talked about his himself: his style of play, his money, his future, his respect. It doesn't end. I know the guy feels like he hasn't been given what he's earned and that he's got passion, but you got to wonder if his own success is really what's been motivating him all season. And if so, how will he change once he's got that security?

Whats the point of tryin to make the playoffs if youre gonna get Knocked Out in the first round, what do we have when we make it there? We need a player with playoff experience and a player who can singlehandedly bring his team back into games. Hes here to play ball, to me what is said in the media, as long as it isnt derogatory to his teammates, franchise or fans, has nothing to do with what happens on the court. He jacks shots because no one else has the balls too, and when you notice, he jacks shots when everyone else is missing, why shouldnt he? If we loose Mike James, thats a HUGE step in the wrong direction.

I think its a good attitude to have, especially in a team like Toronto where everything over the last 2-3 years has been nothing but chaos. The man sounds as though he wants to try and lead Toronto some where, how ever I can see how that kind of attitude would annoy some people.

I also dont see him ever being an All Star, maybe as a bench player next season or the season after, but not 5 years in a row.

I don't think so, if you think about it. Mike James has got his high numbers because he has been taking high amount of shots. What a good pg would do is run a good offence, and just pass the ball to Bosh. I'd say to get a true pg like Ridnour, or even Earl Watson, who is a good pass first pg.

He doesn't make all his shots, he's not Milt Palacio you know.

But Hes Shooting 47%. If no one else is scoring, and you are a 47% shooter, and a 44% 3pt shooter, then please, SHOOT.

I don't care what other's say. I'm not listening, he's still wack and he needs a hard slap on his head to wake him up.

No Kidding. If you would be (caring what others say), you'd want him on the team.
